I have a question, fellow bowlaz! I work in a small advertising agency in Oslo, Norway, and we struggle to get in contact with international ad media such as Adweek (Ad Freak) and Ad Age whenever we want to show off our creative work. Does anyone of you have a way in, or tips on how we can get in contact with media outlets like these? Cheers
Hello Everyone! Does anyone have a connection at Netflix ! I am an author/marketing associate and truly my dream job is to work on the team that creates/produces Drive to Survive. I am a huge F1 fan! However, I am willing to start where I can and work my way there! I was laid off due to Covid and just trying to get back into the field and industry I love.

Unpopular opinion (it seems like) but if I was offered my dream job and turned it down I would spend my whole life thinking about what could have been. You can always quit and move back if it turns out it’s not your dream job after all, but you can never go back in time and take a chance you passed on.

If you still are in a place in your career where the cache of brands is something you value and you feel it’s worth the life cost, I’d say go for it but I’d put a mental stamp of a year or 2 on it knowing it will have a high cost.
I hit some big brands pretty quickly after school and the work life balance was awful, so I learned pretty quickly that if I don’t have time for myself, money, or health, brands meant nothing to me anymore.
But you can’t have someone understand that unless they experienced that themselves. If you still have dream clients and dream jobs then go for it. My priorities shifted to dream personal life and dream health but I didn’t get there until after I had my “dream” clients. Follow you gut! Nothing is forever!
Apple is not that fulfilling creatively, but once you’ve worked there for a few years you can literally work anywhere else.
I’d probably stay, especially if I had a family
Stay.
Do you like your life where you are now? If yes then stay. If you’re looking for a change and a new network, then go. I relocated to the west coast in La and while I wanted the change I ultimately came back to DC because of the network of people I had here. Sometimes life is more than just a career. It’s different for everyone.

I hear that Apple’s in-house creative isn’t that awesome, unless you’re part of the brand team (maybe that’s your role, I dunno). So you’d have the cool name on a resume, but perhaps not significantly better work. Then it’s work/life balance and moving to Silicon Valley, which sounds like a loss. So I’d stay…although tons and tons of money could sway me.
Mal hasn't done anything interesting in like a decade.
First off thank you all for the advice. I went to Apple and it’s the best decision I ever made in my life. No regrets.
Can I get a referral to apple because of my great advice? *shoots friendly finger guns*
Stay
I'd say go for it. I mean it is your "dream job." As someone mentioned before you can always move back if things don't work out. You don't want the regret of passing up on your dream and wondering what if. Kind of sounds like you're looking for a change anyway, and if you stay a little longer, you're going to end up leaving your current job at some point (due to said uncool work). So why not choose Apple? I imagine you'd at least walk away with a great name on your resume and at least one cool spot for your book if anything.
Dreams are often better in theory.
I don’t mean that to sound so jaded, I am pro-dream. Just be prepared for the possibly that you only liked the idea of it and don’t love it in reality. And uprooting your life to find out, longing for a past you left behind blah blah.
My totally unqualified advice and general approach that works for me:
1. make a pros and cons list
2. do the thing that gives you more of a head rush
I’ve heard that Apple does not allow you to promote your work on a portfolio website. That might be a big NO if it’s true.
Not a big deal.
Silicon Valley suuuuucks
Use the apple job to get a raise at your current job and be happier, with more money and a better balance.
Even with a raise, no way it’ll be comparable to Apple’s total comp.
I didn’t take my dream job but I jumped from a fine client to a bigger one. I miss my old work life balance so much. I’m still friends with my old coworkers and I’m glad I left but I’m also so happy I didn’t relocate. I would have been stuck at the job I have now with no friends in the new city. Crazy hours I’ve learned are sustainable for me (I love doing personal projects). So I’m going to quit in the next year. Basically, I’m telling you make sure you like your new city before you go to your “dream job” because if you decide to hit up other opportunities a couple months after you start, at least you like where you are enough and don’t have to move for a new job.
Stay. If you’re not making eye-bleeding money (400+) SV is not for you.
Yep same as CD1 - you’ll never know, if you’re under 35 / less than 15 yrs in, you have time to take risks…

Stay. Apple is boring.
Think about the stock options!
I think you should stay and toss me that apple offer 🙏. Let me be that dang Newton.
