$12 an hour for someone who is billing time seems insanely low!

This sounds right for the area though. I lived in the rural Midwest and support are paid usually a few dollars above minimum wage even if their time is billed higher.

You’d want to look at their education level, experience (quality over quantity) and perhaps some writing samples. You can have a base salary, and then a tiered bonus payout based on billables if you feel motivated to do so. (Though, you may get more bang for your buck in doing it that way... win win)

Reach out to law schools, law students, other small firms, etc. If you’re only needing them <20hrs a week then you could share one with another firm and they could have a full time job between the both of you. Also try OK law school alumni Facebook pages.

Our legal assistants don’t bill time. Paralegals and attorneys do. Not sure if that’s the norm tho.

That being said, I also feel it’s important to point out that some states have rules as to what qualifies a person as a “paralegal”. To me, this disrupts the equality of the titles.

A lot of senior leaders in my team have 1 so I’m really not sure at this point. The opportunity costs are high, but I’m well aware of the long term benefits. I’ve also already taken the GMAT and gotten a 740. I’m an Asian male and find the hurdles that we go through for admissions a turn off as well.

Question for you sales and saas guys. I work for a fast growing startup and we are billing around 200 K a month. I am in charge of the sales team and our CFO mandates that we collect ACH payment information on every agreement. The problem with this is we have to reel in micro deposit amounts from customers and it feels like herding cats. I’ve worked for three great tech companies and I’ve never had ACH nor have I ever paid for services with ACH. Is this a totally dated process?
