a Feckless C? Congrats!

In the same boat, with an offer in hand. If you don’t see yourself growing/liking what you do, it’s probably best to move on. It’s not going to magically change when you’re a Consultant.

likesmart

Yeah I’m not expecting more growth or to enjoy my job more, I just don’t know if 2.5 yr experience plus the consultant promo will make a big impact on the level I transition to another firm at? Plus the higher base salary and bonus angle

like

Well, you can always leverage your ‘soon’ to be salary and level when you negotiate. That’s the approach I took

like

I hate my job but im sticking it out for the years of experience. Its not much longer, and you’ve already done 2.5 years...just get the official title and then jump. Id say start looking now so that you feel better about coming in to work, looking for other employment always makes you feel better haha

like

Start looking now. The ‘consultant’ title won’t really move the needle on job opportunities. It’s more important to find a role that’s more aligned with your goals while still showing forward progress early in your career - probably should avoid jobs that you’d get right out of college

like

D1 that’s good advice. I think a lot of my mindset is that promotion might help to ensure recruiters don’t nudge me to a straight out of college role

like

You're right not to sell yourself short, OP. Consulting tenure is like dog years. If after 2+ in consulting, someone suggested I take an entry level role, I'd burst out laughing. The only exception maybe being a role entirely unrelated to business ... but probably not even then!

like

If the promo and raise are definitely happening and you like what you do why would you leave before then? It's only a few months from now

I’d stick it out. I’d starting looking around, but why not get to that next never before you move? You can do anything for 6 months! What about your work don’t you like? Can you get a new project in the meantime? New team?

Life is definitely too short. I hate the fact that im missing out on an entire day, a beautiful sunny day of my numbered life to create fucking slides....but the other employees do it, so i cant give up lol

Thanks all for the advice! It really boils down to shitty project management, and they won’t let me roll off for several months so that’s no an option. They tasked me with fixing some high visibility screwups that a few of the old managers made, and it’s just a role from hell

Yeah, like I’m at the point where I wouldn’t want a role that isn’t leading a workstream. That’s what I have been doing for months, just don’t have a title that reflects it

Yeah stick it out OP. Worth it for higher pay for next job and the bonus.

I took a new job in order to move across the country for my husband's promotion and I hate my new job. The role sold to me by the recruiter and company leadership is not at all what I am actually doing. I am so overworked it's unreal. At first I thought that maybe I just sucked, even though I'm a seasoned sales professional with 11 years experience, but then I found out that I have 227 accounts vs the 35 & 64 that my counterparts have. Do I go over my boss's head and discuss with leadership?

What are some signs that it’s time to move on to a new job/ career path? I’m not looking at promotion for realistically another 2 years, same timing for pay raise. On a long term project so I’m locked in for another 2 years at least doing the same thing so not learning nearly like I was when first joining consulting. I’m starting to lose sight of my overall goals and what’s the point of doing all this. Please help!

I just had my first annual performance review meeting with my manager this past Friday. She had nothing but good things to say about my work, effort etc. thus far. After that she indicated a raise of a little less than 3%. Is this something I can counter? Should companies be giving raises that are at least at the percentage of the inflation rate (Being ~ 6% this year)? I appreciate any feedback!

I never thought being a mom would be this difficult. I am working full time, have an infant who wakes up every 3-4h and doesn't fall back asleep unless held in arms, am breastfeeding for medical reasons, and feel resentful and beyond tired all the time. I hate the fact that my body is so different to how it was before, that I don't have a sense of self any more, that I can't disconnect and take a break (and this is likely to not change for years to come). Is this normal or unfit to be a mom?
