The FIRST thing that popped into my head was Essential Workers...just because of the times we find ourselves in. So, we have Civil Engineers in the “real” world... what about CIVIC Engineers? They’re really doing civics when they’re volunteering to do jobs around the school...? It sounds official...but maybe that’s too boring? Idk. Kudos to your students for taking on leadership roles in civics! We need many more humans on this planet with those skills.

Left Booz last year to work for one of the beltway bandits. Culturally this is not a fit and I'm looking to quit. While I don't plan to go back to Booz or a Big 4, I'm considering a non technical role with a tech company in the DC or Reston area, preferably in partnership, BD or sales. How bad does a gap on my resume appear to recruiters and hiring managers? Any advice is appreciated.

I was laid off from a resource management role, working with employees approaching or on the bench, working with managers to staff projects, and support functions like report creation, scheduling, etc. Roles like this are few and many large consulting firms have frozen internal hiring. Do you think it would be beneficial to get a SHRM cert? Would that help get a "talent related" HR role? Worth the money? I have a background in recruitment as well.

I currently work as a data scientist and was recently contacted about a FAANG product analyst position and encouraged to apply. since I am currently working as a data scientist (non-FAANG) and I feel like going from a data scientist position to a product analyst position is not a lateral move and wouldn’t be a good career move given my skills and experience (Ph.D, advanced stats/ml training).
