I need help! Currently a rising Senior in Tech Risk/IT audit and I absolutely hate it. I have a MAcc, CISA, and currently pursuing my CPA. What would be the best course of action to leave my service line? I’m ultimately interested in financial accounting advisory.

I would wait until you pass your CPA. I think it will help a lot with the transfer

Try talking to a partner in your tech risk practice to advocate for you transferring - that's the easiest way to make a move. Alternately, you are only a rising senior - I can promise you that the work in tech risk is much more interesting at the senior and beyond levels. Do a lap as a senior and simultaneously work a transfer through a trusted partner - they don't happen overnight. I recently helped one team member transfer. I also helped another around your level realize that they would enjoy the work they were doing once they made it to the next year - this person wanted to transfer to cyber, and later asked me to stop the transfer, as what they are doing now is enjoyable. Have the honest discussion - we have all been there. Good luck!

I’m a 2nd year and effectively just ran a deal on my own with the partner. It ran smoothly, I got praise from the partner, and the partner said that they trust me to do most stuff without their sign off (so no need to check with them in future unless I’m really unsure). Generally there is one or two mid levels above me, and I find it way harder to do my job when they are managing me. They like to keep me on the bench, get me to do minor tasks and don’t let me take responsibility and ownership.
