I need help. My 5 year old is throwing tantrums all the time. Last night she told my husband she wished he was dead and tonight she “checked me off” - any resources that have helped for similar situations?

Second this!

Remember when your child is being the most difficult, they need the most love. Give lots of hugs and reassurance, a safe space to talk about feelings, but do not acknowledge the poor behavior. When she does/says something wrong send her too a quiet space to cool off (age appropriate time out) and don't bring it up again. She knows what she did/said was wrong; she could just be trying to get a rise/attention from you. If this isn't new behavior because of the move, check out The Defiant Child. It is a great read and I hardly yell in my house now. My kids say that my talking sternly is yelling....if they only knew! Lol

Thank you. My MIL gave me the defiant child and one other book of similar content for Xmas… I’m wondering if she saw something? Regarding taking things personally- we have had a lot of deaths in the family recently so I can’t help but take it personally when she says she’d rather both me and my husband die. If only she knew what that would mean. Also, she’s only 5.

Any big changes around your house recently?

When mine have gone through big changes, a little extra 1:1 time goes a long way. An extra story or two, taking a walk after dinner for a few evenings or an hour of play time together on the weekend are the things we do for this. Doesn’t have to be much just some extra “I’m here for you and with you” time.

Have you and hubs been really busy lately? Maybe you each carve out 20 min for “special mommy/daddy and me play” where she has 100% of your attention each night?

Parenting with Love and Logic

Thanks everyone! I took a class on love and logic and I feel like I failed. This was when my biggest was 6 mo and I just didn’t have the context. I did use the feeling color wheel the other night and it was really helpful. So helpful that’s our new bedtime routine! I don’t have Facebook or Instagram- is there another way to access little big feelings? I really appreciate the support here. I said I need help and I got it from you. Thank you

Peeps, what happened if when you got married to a citizen while in the process of getting work green card? Does the company make you return the fee they pay for the application?

Would you take a pay cut and dip in title to go in-house? I feel done with agency life and got an offer to go in-house at a well-known brand. The catch is that it’s about a 10% pay cut and I’d be going from a Director to Manager. And honestly, if I take this offer to my agency I know they’ll automatically bump my title to VP and give me a pay raise. I’m on track for that to happen in Dec. but I’m at the point I’m just worn out but not sure if this is a wise decision in the long run.

Advice needed: company I admire contacted me for an interview (PM/Program Manager role). They were acquired in the spring and no longer offer equity. The role is very much a role for a startup tho, think small team - lots to organize & scale. When i asked salary range they said it’s decided after interview process. What would you say is a reasonable salary to ask for? Position is 5 YOE PM and Program Manager (i have 5.5 YOE in both). My spouse feels 150K is reasonable. I’m at 125k rn. Thoughts?

Private school worth it? I think of it as insurance. Less chance your kid is a screw up, sets the baseline of what school he/she gets into higher. makes sure they don’t get lost in the weeds with low student teacher ratio. Anyone else done extensive research or has practical life experiences with this?

Hi Guys, While I joined Mindtree before 3 months, recruiter said I will be getting joining bonus after 3 months of joining. But it was not mentioned in the offer letter, as well as I was not aware that joining bonus will be mentioned in offer letter as this is my 1st jump in IT field. Now the recruiter left organization and my HR is telling they cannot accommodate request as it is not mentioned in offer letter. How should I escalate this to the recruiter's manager to get a positive reply?
