Church/small group!
Pro
- Church youth/ social groups if that’s what you’re into
- eventually when local sports teams happen again, sign up for a few of those. I joined ultimate when I moved and found a ton of friends!
- join a local volunteer group or organization. Find one that has the same folks meeting with consistency (community garden?) or one that has zoom calls to put things into action.
- Bumble for friends?
- local book club stuff?
- pick up weekend work at a local coffee shop
- Pick a few friends in your life who you want to be more like/ have more friends like and start nurturing those friendships. Eventually they will introduce you to more like-minded people and that will be your friend group, too!

I’m sorry, humans suck.
Rising Star
Find a cause that interests you and join a group or organization that serves it. I’d also suggest church, because I’ve met some of the most inspiring and giving people in church communities throughout my life.
Strip clubs; very friendly folk there

I mean there are a lot of cautionary tales in Consulting. You could observe what they do and proceed to do the exact opposite.

Find organizations with people that inspire you. I started dropping the groups that weren’t bringing me joy or helping me grow, even though I had been a part of the organization & even leadership for a while. Now I belong to two organizations, one with church and one as a professional organization. The people are driven, creative, smart and supportive, so they help me grow. I have a mentor from the professional organization and it was probably the best thing I did this year.
are you the one first?

Are you talking about mentors? If so, it’s tough to find a good one nowadays. Many people are small minded and/or petty and they give advice that primarily aims to validate their own life choices. Be on the lookout for people who are honest about their own life experiences and happy to share their mistakes to help you avoid making the same ones. Good luck.
