I need some advice. My manager made a big deal about me being in the bathroom for 10 minutes today. This is just another micromanaging tactic of his - lately everything I do is a problem. Next week is my final week until I start my new job and I’d had enough of the crap. I explained that if me going to the bathroom is a problem, I’d be glad to provide a doctors note and get with HR. He said he would show HR my emails. I said please do, as I have the right to use the bathroom. I’m not away

Sounds like you’re dodging a bullet by getting out of there. You could always raise your concerns in your exit interview because at this point you only have a week left and it sounds like he’s just bitter that you’re leaving

I’ve had this happened to me in My previous job. Like literally asking me every single time. It’s irritating.

I’m a direct person so always want to confront these types and situations however IMO this is a time to let it go. I’m sure your current manager is worried you will spill about them at the other location so is taking it out on you. Stupid, I know, bc it only solidifies you’re right about them, but think of your long term career goals and focus on what lies ahead. Ignore this petty shit. You are SO CLOSE to being out of there.

Just make sure he cc’s you on the email. This sounds like a bullshit overstep, and you should absolutely protect yourself.

I wouldn’t let it bother you unless you have a history of not meeting performance standards.

from my desk excessively. I have always gone to the bathroom every 45 minutes to an hour. Sometimes it’s a quick 5 minute thing, others it’s 10. I don’t see how it matters, truly.
Given it being the home stretch, I don’t see why he would actually bother going to HR, but it sounds like he is!
So, does anyone know if I could truly get in trouble with my company?
For context, I am leaving this office and starting at a new office with the same company. So I will still have the same HR department.

Where do you work? I can’t imagine HR will do anything. Maybe you should call them first?

Thank you. I will be

Definitely would let it go as you’re about to leave. HR is not and never will be on your side vs management/the company. I used to work in HR and we literally had to disclose ‘confidential’ stuff all the time if the company felt it was in their best interest.

At the end of the day HR works for the company.

Posted this in another bowl but wanted to get thoughts from you ladies!

I’m starting in a new role tomorrow and will be traveling to the clients site (think big bank). It’s my first time working in the Financial Services space.

Any advice on what to wear for the first day? A professional dress? Also what are your thoughts on designer jewelry (Cartier bracelet or VCA necklace). I can keep it simple and wear my Apple Watch. Just want some thoughts. Thanks in advance !!

I shared the wrong screen in a meeting with 1 direct report (Director) and 1 of his direct reports (Sr Manager) 😱. I have 2 screens and Zoom chose the one not in front of me and I had no idea. The screen had my to do list on it and number 1 was “send resume to x” (name of recruoter and company was there). About 3 seconds after I shared the Director said “I think you’re sharing your to do list” and I immediately closed it. I have to assume they saw everything. What do I do?

Hey all, what’s your opinion on providing 2 Week notice? Do you think it’s still standard or depends on the situation.

I recently received my start date for a new job, and am happy to be leaving my current situation- it is a very hostile environment. I’m debating whether to give a week or two week notice.

Looking for objective opinions. I was in a training session today with all men and one other woman. Truth be told, I was by far best there (based on effort, not necessarily natural ability). I suddenly felt like a goody twos shoes and unliked for coming prepared. The woman was indifferent with me which happens a lot with women in the industry. Sometimes I think it’s because I’m well put together and carry myself with confidence (I’m no Kate Moss but I did used to be a fashion buyer). Cont. below
