I need some advice or encouragement perhaps.. my peeps are promoted faster than me and it really hurt me when I compared myself with them. But what’s done is done. How can I overcome this defeat and setback in my career?

Your company may be content with your output, influence & effect on the workforce and is overlooking you otherwise. If this is the case they need to know you would be open to changing roles and responsibility level. If you positively communicate this with little result it may be time to look outside your current company.

Could it be a performance issue? Ask your manager for a 360 degree assessment to identify gaps in skills, knowledge, and even personality.

Hey everyone! I work as a PM at a startup and we have a huge marketing campaign launching and need to get all these deliverables organized. Does anyone have a tool they use or a template? I have a Gantt chart going but was wondering if anyone has something else they like to use. Also feeling a little overwhelmed and just unsure of my skills for some reason - I think this campaign is just bigger than I estimated and there’s so much info missing (sigh). Thanks for your help!

I am an hourly employee. Currently if there is a hospital call that needs to be done, someone will volunteer to do it for overtime. Now, my company wants to create a set call schedule. If we get a call at 5pm, when my shift ends, can I still be required to complete the call? I will be paid overtime but don’t like the fact they will force it upon us.

Guys,
Need some suggestions.
Currently I am working in TCS Kolkata with 6.8lpa, technology - Exchange 2010 (which is already out of support from Microsoft).
I got an offer from Infosys Bhubaneswar with 9.3lpa, technology: Office 365.
My hometown is Kolkata.
Hybrid model is okay for me if it is Bhubaneswar as my in-laws won't allow me to move to a different city. Problem is opportunities are very less in Kolkata and TCS won't hire ex- employees. Should I switch to Infosys or stay back in TCS..

Thinking of switching to Bearing Point. What their reputation like in Middle East? Who are their top clients? What’s WLB like?

Additional Posts in Career Pivot

I'm an artist model, looking to transition to remote work in order to care for my grandmother. Unfortunately due to extenuating circumstances I am unable to employment as the carer for her. So I am looking to get remote work so I can take care of her while I am at work if she so needs it throughout the day.

However, haven't worked in a office setting in about 10 years.

I am looking for any and all advice on this journey. As I have no idea where to start.

In seeking to advance beyond an impending permanent burnout spinning wheels at lower levels, how does one best acquire a top position, say, Director, or apply their skills in a way that’s fulfilling again? Pivot is such a different kind of advancement, its not climbing or moving laterally in a game of chutes and ladders; its more redefining what it means to work with the guts and passion. With a company lead whose mind is out of the game and ready to retire and move on, how do I get his job?

I’m transitioning careers from Java Developer to Business Analyst. I have experience being a Business Analyst for 6 months in one of my previous project.

Are there any BAs who can guide me on how to get a role and what study materials would be relevant for me? I’m slowly getting demotivated since the interviewer told me I’m not good at translating requirements which makes sense because I mostly took notes and did documentation at the previous BA role I did. Any advice would be helpful!

Started looking at jobs in private accounting. I scored interviews for a Staff Accountant, Junior Accountant, and Accounting Assistant. I just finished interviewing for the Staff Accountant position which feels very much like AP/AR and Bank Recs to start, similarly to the other two positions. Does the title matter? I want to be able to grow but at the same time I want to make sure I’m moving up positions in my job search so I’m exposed to harder/higher level work.

Hey everybody, new here. But after reading through some of the post , I see that I am not the only one in the same boat. I’m in my 2 year as a teacher, currently a middle school math teacher. It was never my intention to begin with and I don’t mind it. I just know that’s not where my heart is. Anybody have similar experiences moving from teaching into another career such as something in finance. How would I even begin to break into the field with a degree in something not particularly related.

I was having offer nego with HR. She asked what's my salary expectation. I followed textbook, ask her what's the budget or salary range for the role.

Based on the role, my experience, I should fit into band AVP2. She asked my salary, I obliged.

Now she said I should fit into AVP1 instead which has lower salary band. And AVP1 already offer a decent upgrade from current pay.

few days later asked for my payslip and I ask again about AVP2 and was declined.

I didn't take the offer (got better)
