1. Check the condo by laws, most wooden floors on floors 2 and above are usually banned.
2. Propose a bylaw to ban them past ground floor. you can’t be the only one in misery
3. Rent out the unit and keep it as an investment. The DC market is so hot right now and you bought it pretty cheap. I’d say hold that baby until you die and use it as an income stream down the road. Leases are generally 1 year so your renters would have to deal
Go through arbitration with your condo if it’s already against by laws. In the meantime, start living somewhere else for peace of mind
Neighbors floors creaks very loudly when they walk. It really is too much for me (I'm just miserable all the time bc the noise really bothers me). Have been debating between suing to have them fix it (that's another story) or just trying to sell (if anyone would even buy the place). I haven't made upgrades, and I've painted the kitchen cabinets, so I'm not sure what it could sell for. I don't really want to sink more money into the place if I'm moving. Was a first time buyer and so have a mortgage credit certificate and used my first time home buyer benefits. Thoughts on whether I should sell or if that would be really stupid financially? Or should I pursue legal action? What would you do?
