got laid off at Hopin. job search is going well but finding it super hard in interviews to get an idea of the company culture and whether they actually care about work/life balance. they will obviously *say* they do but i fear in reality they’re just going to advantage, overwork you and pile on the deadlines. so many people in interviews with me have been so uninspiring, barely smile and seem totally burnt out. is this just my experience?
McKinsey & Company I’m in between having accepted my offer and starting. I’ve read advice recommending getting your WFH set up ready before starting, and want to take that. I assume the answer is “no”, but could I spend my $150 one-time WFH allowance now and submit expense receipts after starting? Any chance they’d pay back spending prior to start date that was within a certain window (my last company allowed this for moving-related expenses, as an example) of the start? McKinsey & Company

Branding and marketing collateral all fall into one category at most large organizations. The content creation still could theoretically fall into that bucket. The argument that these are different functions just because they are different types of projects isn’t necessarily true. The simple answer is that you are a Brand & Content Designer.
A better justification would be tenure. How long have you been at that company and/or how many years of experience do you have. You could be Senior instead of Mid. Or maybe even Lead.
The other thing to consider is that you’re probably doing more than one persons job within these functions. Are you writing copy, producing, project managing, etc? That def merits recognition. What might happen if you follow that logic is that they hire another person to help you, theoretically that person could report to you. Maybe you’re head of creative with a producer or writer under you (but be careful with over inflated titles at small companies, if you went from there to a large business later, be prepared to possibly have to move backwards).

I wanted to add, for more money realistically don’t work for a small business. Job hop, get variety in your book.
