In my district, most teachers who were given accommodations have returned because they have been vaccinated.
Most came back before being vaccinated. Research into the condition shows that those with simular diagnosis can get vaccinations, wear masks and be in public. I don’t know why it bugs me...I really don’t know why.
I'm noticing similar trends in my district. One of the teachers on my grade level team, supposed to be the team leader, is still teaching virtually because of her accommodation. She somehow thinks that this also excludes her from handling the responsibilities she took on as team leader, though all of the tasks can be done virtually.
We have been virtual all year and given the opportunity to be vaccinated through our school district before we return next year.
We have a limited number if staff that were approved for a full year of virtual only classes at the start of the year. It was department supervising AP decision to provide those accommodations so each dept within our building was handled differently. It has made things *interesting* as more students have returned face to face but there is no option to recall these staff members based on the agreements that were made months ago and under different circumstances.
We teach Simitian zoom and live in person, with the students who decided to return to school. If you have a medical condition, you could continue to teach from home with a doc’s note.
My district refused all accommodation requests. Our choice was teach in person from day one or take a leave of absence.
