I needed some advise. This is my last attempt on H1-B lottery. I was planning on initiating my H1b lottery from an outside consultancy as well along with my current employer so that I have better chances. I wanted to check if that is legal and I can have multiple H1b filings from different employers? Thanks.

I don’t believe it is. But please check with a lawyer once. Even if the lawyer agrees to the possibility of multiple filings . I would advise against it.

Thanks pwc1, is there a specific reason why you advise against it?

It is legal- any number of firms can register and file for your visa. Source is my experience .

Different firms can file h1b lottery for the same person but the same firm cannot file it twice. So, it's perfectly legal.

What D1 said, it is legal to file through two separate employers. OP can you share what this outside consultancy is? Been trying to find one of them

It's legal, go for it

It’s legal and you can do that If both of them got selected then you wud have to choose 1 I am not sure if you wud be able to find a consultancy to do it without a client letter

Peeps I have H1b till Sep 2021 but my passport expired in Sep 2020 and along with it my I94. I had already renewed my passport back in Feb but haven’t left the country since. I read online that my presence in the USA is unlawful and staying here unlawfully for more than 180 would bar me from entering US for 3 years. What are my options ?

Got approval to hire a new admin/paralegal for my transactional group. Firm isn’t doing a great job advertising the post and I think the best pitch we have is “Give us two years making around $40k before law school, work here during law school, and you’ll have a job paying $190k already set up for when you graduate.” Any suggestions how to find this person? Not proud of it, but I was hooking up with a co-worker/friend pre-COVID. I left the state when wfh started and we still talk every day, but nothing romantic. He made it clear at the beginning that he didn’t want to date because we’re co-workers. Stung a bit when I went on a dating app this morning and saw his profile. The rational part of me knows we’re only ever going to be buddies and that if he actually wanted me, then he’d make something happen. Looking for advice on how to get over this.
