I've seen CDD reports and folks on my teams try to get creative with R&D, product, CX, type synergies. These are either difficult to implement, or the cost to achieve is so high it basically becomes a dis-synergy through margin contraction. Technically, if you are rich enough, isn’t self-insurance the best option? Insurance companies have to make money by taking in more in premiums than paying out in claims, so on average the customer is losing money and has a negative (albeit stable) NPV on their insurance money. But if you had enough money to tolerate the risk of a unexpectedly high expense, wouldn’t it be better to not pay for the insurance?
