That gives me serious creeper vibes. Is there some kind of cultural reasons that this would be acceptable in India over the US that I'm missing? I don't want to be culturally insensitive but I really feel like if I saw that on a company listing in the states it would be a major red flag.
Oh interesting. I have not heard of this, and even though I'm a highly-motivated woman it strikes me as insulting and not in the best interests of the company. I understanding wanting to be gender and racially diverse but it just feels like there's something there that's off.
Maybe there are some female-only teams that want to stay that way. It's hard to know without knowing the company and situation involved. I would be really annoyed to find out that it's something to do with lower wages.
Wow… I googled and found things like https://in.indeed.com/only-female-jobs
There is a wide variety of jobs listed.
I saw an article that said only 30% of Indian women are participating in the labor market. I read a couple of other articles to better understand. It is complicated but related to women’s work outside of the home not being respected and automation of agriculture.
There seems to be a societal push to have a 33% quota for women. I found multiple articles about this for government jobs. There is an Indian law that requires women be on all “board of directors” for public companies.
Gender diversity seems to be a hot topic in India.
