Is it unethical as realtors working in an office to block chunks of time off for personal reasons? Some of my coworkers stay in their desks for up to 10 hours, but I've taken up the habit of blocking at least 1 hour daily for lunch, breaks, and other issues that may arise. Do you do this as well or do you prefer to work straight through your day?

I’m an analyst at a small(ish) REPE firm. We’re looking to unroll a pretty comprehensive Multifamily strategy and I’m tasked with hammering it out internally. Part of this is choosing a RE consulting firm to engage. We’re looking for people to gather a lot of data on various markets and create various economic reports. Alright ya’ll - time to fess up! What’s something you have done/do at work that your firm/company/superiors don’t know?

Sometimes between being the sole provider at home, the rain maker at work, the demands of my clients, demands of my family, demands of my staff. Life just feels crushing at times.

I think my dad is in a deep depression and I don’t know how to help. I think his general “laziness” stems from that but my family’s anger toward him for not trying to find a job or contribute at all to the household has created resentment against him so it’s a vicious cycle. He doesn’t want to help himself (probably because he is depressed) and that makes people not want to help him. Any suggestions?

I find it hard for me to take a compliment. I gloss right over it, and don’t know how to react.
