SA1, if you tip because of social pressure, you get no credit. Read my comments again. Just the comments. Don't try to insert your "between the lines" extras. I said exactly what I mean. No more. No less.
What's the difference if your meal costs 15-20% bc it's built into the price or you pay the posted price and then leave 15-20%. If you can't figure out that a 50 dollar meal will cost you closer to $60 then you have bigger math issues.
If you can't afford the tip, you can't afford the meal.
Everyone here thinks you are an ass, dont worry
Tips make up the majority if not all of their wages. Dont be a dick
The solution is to not go places that require tipping, not to stiff the tip. You could be 30%+ wealthier in your life if you don't pay taxes. Doesn't mean you can just stop
To all the single lonely people in FB, please note: leaving an unfairly bad tip is the number one way to not get a second date.
If you can't afford to tip maybe don't eat out, carry your own bags and cut your own hair etc. No one is forcing the convenience of someone else making your food, or carrying your bags or getting that pesky are in the back of your head either. If you can't do 15 to 20% just forgo all those things you don't do for yourself altogether and you'll be golden.
I do tip FYI but the point of my post is that the wages should be built into what you pay and make it more predictable for the service provider as well as the payer. As for taxes, people may as little as legally possible unless you are an idiot. Can't tip $0 by that logic. Please don't give stupid analogies.
So $2 is going to kill you?
But don't like the practice.
So you don't like the practice, are you lobbying for living wages? Are you demonstrating with workers for fair wages? If you are just "protesting" by shafting service workers you are just a cheap asshole regardless of how you want to spin it in your head.
I do out of social pressure.
A2. I'm aware. Unsanctioned responded like he stifles people.... When he clearly has said "I do tip FYI"
The argument that A2 makes whereas if you can't afford to cut your own hair or carry your own plate or whatever it is he said doesn't make sense at all. The establishment where you work pays you to do a job, there should be 0 liability shifted to the customer for paying in excess of the listed price of services. Why don't our clients give us tips/bonuses? We work hard, no? I don't give a shit if that's how you make your money, find a different job where you get paid more.
I mean chances are I won't see them again anyways. I strongly feel like tips should be built into the wages like in other countries.
$2 many number of times is a lot of money if you think about it.
Also, if that much of your income is being spent on activities you too on, you might have bigger problems
You can evade taxes. You can evade tipping. Both are unfair and cheating others. The same way you can manage you tax burden, you can manage your tip-related expenses
OP, great idea about living wages. However, if you dine at places where tipping is expected before your desired changes are implemented, you're a selfish, hypocritical piece of shit. You help no one by stiffing when you think you can get away with it and complaining on an anonymous message board.
