Graduated on full ride scholarship, have a safety amount (50% current salary) from jobs and internships, and recently joined consulting for 82k. Planned on maxing out my 401k but now I'm wondering if its a good idea this year considering the market.

With social security potentially running out, why couldn’t it be an option for the govt to put $5k for every baby that is born in a year into an account Invested in a govt share class S&P 500 fund. Historical average is 10%+, which would provide roughly $2.7 million for a baby born today. Eventually, this would eliminate the need for soc sec tax, and would only cost $18 Billion a year instead of several trillion a year being deposited into the trust.

Takes on NIO? I think this could be the next TESLA. Chinese govt already bailed them out and is looking to support them more vs TESLA.

Right now valuation is 1/10th of TESLA - but we know China’s ability to ramp up. Even if they come close to 1/5th of TESLA they would represent a 5x potential.
