I own a 1973 Chevy nova and and a 1988 Dodge ramcharger. Eventually I want to put a 6.6L duramax in the nova, and make it into a sleeper/fun weekend car, restomod the interior for comfort, convenience and tech etc. Then I want to put a Cummins in the Ramcharger and make it into kind of an overland/back country truck that I can still take down the road to get to the back country. Also restomod it for comfort, convenience and tech. Thoughts ?

I've always been intrigued by restomods, but I've never seriously looked into it.

At least in theory, I'd love to do a full restomod on a late year C3 for a fun weekend vehicle, but I've been talking about that for over a decade and have never done more than talk about it and do cursory research.

Go for it, OP!

Also the nova was my first car in high school and the ramcharger is the first vehicle I paid my own cash for so they have sentimental value which is why I want to do something cool with them.

Planning on LS swapping a Datsun 280Z. It’s all doable, it’s just going to take a lot of work & money. are you planning on doing this on your own or taking it to a shop?

like

I halfway talked to a diesel shop near where I live and at the time for just the mechanical work and fabrication I was looking at about 60k for the Nova. I have no clue about what interior and cosmetics would cost.

I imagine the ramcharger would be similar priced maybe less since it would take less fabrication etc.

One article I read about someone dropping a diesel in a Nova was that they ended up putting a 9 inch rear axle in the back to accommodate wide tires for traction but that one was set up as a drag car.

Buy/lease now or defer to Q1-2023?

My car broke (engine seized, 10y old). I am interested in 530i ($62k price), however 3year lease is $1,000+ monthly (with $5k down). Monthly lesse payment is 50% more than bmw advertised offers (“south FL dealers are not participating in the program”)

Q to car gurus/experts- should I defer purchase/lease for 6 months? My logic, the impending recession will reduce demand and we will go back to more balanced market (lower prices with negotiation).
