If you’re leaving and just transitioning, no one should expect you to finish work. You should focus on transitioning any of the workload you had to someone else on the team so that they can pick up where you left off.

They should’ve have prepared better for your transition not you. Do not push back or work the weekend! It’s their fault not yours.

Just send an email saying you're going to be busy this weekend since you're leaving the firm, let them know you still have X items on your itinerary and most likely won't finish them. DO NOT work the weekend.

Agree with SAA1 - do your best not to burn a bridge, but set expectations that you won’t be able to address everything in a compressed time period, send them what you can commit to closing, and then indicate the delta needs to be reassigned.

If you were my senior and did the following I would think of jt as amazing transition that made my life easier. Write down status of everything you worked on and whats open. Check if there is anything you received from the client that someone else does have and fwd to manager. Check if there are any requests you made from the client or other important email chains that your manager should have and fwd. And then set up 1 hr mtg with manager and your replacement if they already identified it to go over it live. Then you are done.

Also, I got pulled onto two new proposals the last week. Idk why they want me working on proposals but I don't really have time to pull together proposals and transition by normal work.

I got in trouble this week by Firm for letting my client know that I am leaving AFTER I proactively told my management when I should be letting them know, given that there were only a few days left. I have a good relationship with the client and did not want to shock them by telling them I’m leaving last minute...

Do NOT work this weekend. Do not. It’s their problem for sitting on this for so long.

Unless you did something to fk up big time, no one will remember how well/boarder-line ok job you did last two weeks. I had an associate quite 2 weeks before filing date, and he left at 6/6:30 everyday when everyone else stayed on, no one even manager/partner said anything.

Set up a meeting, tell them what you think you can manage to do in two weeks (have a list, prioritise items that make more sense for you to do than to handover), set up handover meetings. Don’t work overtime, tick off what you can, move on. Whatever you think you can do on that list, you’ll only manage to get through 50% 😅 Be very firm, this is not on you.

I feel like my kids 1st grade teacher is being too strict, but I'm not sure if this is normal or I'm being sensitive because it's my child. E.g. she gave him 2/10 for his math homework because he doodled on the page, colored in the circle that has the page number, didn't draw the word problem neatly, wrote his last name under the name line, and says some of his numbers aren't legible. How normal is it to be pulled off a trial team because you tell your boss you are moving after trial? I have a trial coming up first week of Oct. This case has been my baby, and I’m going to try it with my boss. I tell my boss up front that, for family reasons, I’ve gotten a new job and will be moving to another city two weeks after trial will likely end. He then gives my trial witnesses to another attorney, but is still going to make me do grunt work. Is he unreasonable or am I?

I’m terrified of pregnancy but not of motherhood (except for the noise, kids are so loud). Pregnancy/breastfeeding looks horrible to me, but I’d feel bad about missing out on kids because I was scared of something that wasn’t so bad. It doesn’t help that I don’t know a single pregnant person—in my 30s and none of my friends have children! Any moms out there who can speak about what it’s actually like?

Just got an offer at ACN as a Strategy Manager and HR made it clear that parental leave was 2 weeks fully paid for men. Theoretically up until 12 weeks is covered by NY State ($900 weekly). What would you do? Have you seen men take a few months off for parental leave in consulting even if unpaid?

Help & suggestions please. I don’t have parents and recently had a kid. I am having trouble in recovery and my daughter is a preemie. I am going back to work in December but can’t send kid to daycare due to health. My aunt who raised me wants to visit and help me out , see places too. With the travel ban going away , can she get a visitor visa so that I have someone reliable in the house along with the new nanny. Are visitor visas possible to get now ? So far I’ve been through 1 IVF cycle. I have one embryo that is frozen waiting for transfer. My doctor is wanting me to do another round of IVF to back eggs for baby number two down the road. Has anyone been through this? I know of two people around my age that got pregnant naturally with their second baby after IVF. Hi 🐠, need some advice. Was told by my manager that time doing research (for info related to my client) is not client billable and has to be charged to the overhead code. This strikes me as fundamentally wrong, esp bc this is a flat rate project so the hours will just affect my utilization / internal metrics, not how much the client is billed. I asked for a non-billable code that counts towards utilization but was told my utilization is fine even though I’d be billing <40hrs & to use OH code
