I don't understand why you're taking things so personally when on the title of your post you literally say 2016 was "the year [you] dropped out of corporate America". You did mention you were laid off, and honestly, we are just all envious that you get to keep your signing bonus while we have to sit around for another month or two wondering about promotions, CRTs, and living paycheck to paycheck. We don't have a problem with you, but glorifying getting laid off to other people is kind of lame. You didn't "drop out", you got laid off. Maybe the title of your post should be "2016: the year I was laid off and started my own blog". Sure, what happened to you kind of sucks, but honestly you could've done a lot better than to just take it lying down then rant about it

like

PwC 9, you could have easily messaged me all that, but instead, you (not shockingly) decided to post it anonymously on fishbowl. Was it your attempt to embarrass me? Was it because you lack the backbone to own up to your comments? If you proudly stand behind your passive aggressive and snarky remarks, why don't you post your first and last name on here for everyone to see?

The "dropping out" refers to the PwC layoff PLUS the subsequent months where I decided I wasn't going to chase a shiny new corporate job just for the sake of having one. There was SO much more to my post than just "ranting" but it's clear that was your only takeaway, and consequently, you're just upset that someone finally had the balls to publicly call out PwC (and similar firms) for their BS marketing practices.

I'm not going to waste anymore time debating the merits of my blog with a faceless stranger, particularly when hundreds of real people have messaged me thanking me for speaking out. Nobody takes an anonymous coward seriously, and I really hope you aren't leadership or HR because that would be even more (!) embarrassing. Feel free to reply with an even more judgmental comment (and I'm sure you will) - I'm out ✌🏼️❤️

No way. Deloitte also cares about career advancement and really emphasizes work/life balance...At least their on boarding decks say they do, I have yet to actually experience it

Also- advice that you can take or leave- I know a lot of people have been making posts about being depressed. If you're not happy in consulting it doesn't mean you're a failure. You might just not have been aligned with the right project or right team. NEVER let anyone tell you it's too early to start looking for another job, everywhere I interviewed didn't see it as a problem. Life's too short to live it unhappy. Don't give up

I just quit too. PwC is a toxic place with a toxic culture

Thankfully I already know multiple people on this team, much better to get real firsthand accounts than the bs I was fed in this past job.

I work at PwC and having a blast, don't blame the whole firm bc you were on a shitty team..

Haha PwC 9 if you have a problem with me, you're more than welcome to contact me directly vs. hiding behind an anonymous forum. How embarrassing. Like KPMG 3 said, I blatantly stated I was laid off and the entire point of my post was to possibly help comfort people who are currently finding themselves in the same position. If anything, I was more truthful than necessary and absolutely more truthful than the majority of people in my position. You obviously didn't read my post, and I don't care if you do or don't - but don't anonymously talk shit about me. You're better than that (I hope)

Have offers at places like Oliver Wyman/L.E.K. Consulting and Trinity/Putnam. Long term I want to be in medicine (applying this cycle for md). I’m interested treating patients but I also want to long term use that clinical knowledge/business knowledge (md/mba?) to be in something like a medtech startup. My current opinion is that the skill set I’ll accrue at t2s might be better (although less industry specific) but the knowledge I get for Trinity/Putnam for the world of healthcare would be better.

Needless to say I’ve never took on any Supervisory roles because I wanted to be in the trenches with assisting people. So now I’m drained!!! My offers are now few and I desire employment of consultation, training and/or education based on my years of experience. I hoping someone can relate.
