Cont…. For background, I took the new job because it was a large step up in my career, it would look good on my resume, and because of the large pay advance. Also, I was just fed up with my last job’s pay and clients so I told myself anywhere would be better than here. I realized quick that the grass is not always greener. This new job is way over my head, I don’t have the experience they think I do, I’m uncomfortable and scared, I have to learn so many new technologies and processes in such a short time and I’m not “getting it” quick enough. I feel like I’m letting my coworkers down and disappointing them. I’m learning as much as I can, but the pains of learning a whole new job is making me so stressed. I’m terrified of getting fired. I feel like I’m just not cut out for this and my lack of experience is pulling me back. To make things worse, I don’t have a passion for digital marketing and my job isn’t fulfilling me. My 9-5 is torture for me. I would prefer to work in event marketing or something in person. I love managing events and working with people in (WFH is taking over my life). Do I try and find a job I actually enjoy doing or stick out this new job for at least a year or 2 because quitting now would look awful on my resume? Help….
Give yourself time to learn the new role. Ask questions take notes and talk to your manager. HR will probably check in with you after 90 days, do your best until then. Good luck!!
