I quit my job this morning, leaving for industry. When asked why I was leaving, I shared a few aspirational points about why I was going where I was going. The partner tore me down with unsolicited feedback about my performance then told me that everywhere was the opposite of the aspirational features I underscored.

Why do people do that? It’s been in my head all day.

I’ve been on the job hunt for 8 months. Over 200 applications and less than 10 interviews. I’m trying to find a role in media/entertainment. I have VFX PA experience on a Sony Pictures Film. I’ve been networking, but a lot of my network is unfortunately in the same situation.

This is my first job in a large corporate company, and I’m trying to gauge how long it normally takes to move from entry level to another internal position in the insurance industry. I have been applying internally for a year now and I am wondering if this is normal or if my company is just slow? I am a top performer, with great metrics, and I have some wonderful connections I’ve made who support me. I just can’t seem to move up. How long did it take you to move up? How many tries did it take?

Hi all! To qualify for an L1A visa, do you have to be a senior manager / executive level or does it work as long as you’re a manager? I just moved out of the US because the H1b lottery didn’t work out for me, and I’m thinking rather than spending 1 or 2 years in my home country and go back as a senior, I’d much rather work here a bit longer, get that manager title, wait a year, and then go back as I think that would be the fastest route to green card..? Any thoughts/advice? I’m from 🇰🇷 :) TYI!!

So I’ve been with FAANG for 5 years (I’m 30 y/o). I’m pretty comfortable with my situation. Got average grades at a good undergrad university, total comp ~300k. I’m debating Ivy League MBA. I don’t think it’ll benefit me at FAANG, but I’d like to start a company eventually. Worth it?

So I am working as a UI UX designer since Jan22. I started with a really good project (everything from the scratch) with research, knowing the user etc. The project went really well. It was my first project that I handled individually. I got another project it also went well. Then I was told to work directly with a client, it's been 2 months already we work late hours and also on weekend (asked by the client). It feels like my personal life is gone. Do you think I should change job?
