PSA: I had a horrible experience applying for a job at Devoted Health. Applied online and then got asked to schedule a phone interview. On the day of the interview, I waited 20 min and nothing happened. I emailed the HR rep, he didn’t acknowledge or apologize and just told me to reschedule so I did. Someone posted something earlier that brought back awful memories for me. I'm from the Caribbean, living and working in the UK. Well educated and capable. Yet at my old job, if I joined in a conversation one of my colleagues used to say things like, "Wait - the men are talking. Wait your turn." Or even worse, "Hang on, all I heard was, Blah blah blah coconuts!" Or the same colleague would repeat something I said in a hammy Jamaican accent - I'm not Jamaican anyway. Maybe off-topic, but I’ve got a question related to taxes and withholding. 2020 was the first year that both me and my wife made full salaries in our high-paying jobs (she’s a pharmacist, I’m in consulting). We don’t do anything out of the ordinary to reduce our taxes, we just put ~ 6% each towards our 401k’s. No house or kids so our other deductions are limited. At the end of the week I also end up with a bunch (50+) of open Outlook windows related to meeting invites. Basically, I look at my calendar, double click the invite then join the Zoom meeting. It takes me directly into the meeting and leaves the invite window open. Wash, rinse, repeat and by Friday there is literally one for every meeting I attended. Unfortunately, you can’t close them all together because it will ask you “Want to save your changes?” for every single one. Thoughts?

Interviewing with other B4 and discussions with leadership went well. Told 1st recruiter salary expectations early on. 2nd recruiter (practice specific) reached out and “would have to work on the approvals for an offer as a next step and would like to understand your salary expectation.” i) does this seem odd? They’re actively recruiting for this role- thought they’d have approvals and ii) if they’re not trying to haggle should I ask the recruiter for a range for this level?
