I really want a baby. Im 24 and far from getting married anytime soon so it’s probably going to happen in my early 30s (if I’m being real) but is this normal? Is Mother Nature telling me now is the best time to conceive? I think babies are so precious and I cannot wait to be a mom!

Same. I’m 23. My brother is 24 and has two kids and I love nothing more than the weekends I get to spend taking care of them! Even if their mom lets them nap until 6pm and gives them to me knowing they won’t fall asleep until at least 1am. 🤭 Id say watching them for the past 4 years has taught me a lot about what I will / won’t do as a parent, so it’s been a good learning experience. And also, I know a lot of parents are probably rolling their eyes thinking you might enjoy 2 days of the weekend but try forever, but I’d 100% do it in a heartbeat at this point. I feel like it brings so much purpose and I just love loving them and watching them grow and learn. ❤️

I used to want a baby SO BAD when i was your age. Then I dont know what happened and for most of my late twenties and early to mid 30s I was hardcore ANTI BABY. now I’m almost 40 and getting married and want one. ONE. Anyway what I’m trying to say is, your feelings on this matter may change. You can certainly do this on your own, if that’s what you really want! But I’m personally really happy that I spent all that time by myself and with friends instead of being a mom. I feel like i got to experience a life that some of my mom friends wish they had. Just some food for thought.

I had mine at 22. Was single and alone. Worst mistake I ever made. Only bright spot I was still young enough to have a life when they left home.

Why do you want to bring a child in to this jacked up world?

I feel like my kids 1st grade teacher is being too strict, but I'm not sure if this is normal or I'm being sensitive because it's my child. E.g. she gave him 2/10 for his math homework because he doodled on the page, colored in the circle that has the page number, didn't draw the word problem neatly, wrote his last name under the name line, and says some of his numbers aren't legible. All his answers were correct, except one where he forgot to fill in the blank. Is this normal? X-posting

Hope to learn more if you bought an apt in Manhattan, or if you decided against it (renting/moving to upstate/Long Island/Jersey). My husband and I are considering to have a baby soon and are thinking of buying and living in Manhattan for the next 10 years or so (looking at property under $2M). Please share what you considered as you were making the decision - I hate throwing away rent but also don’t want to trap ourselves in significant financial obligations. Thanks!

Well I'm a first time mom and feel home bound running the baby cycles. My baby is not a good sleeper so I feel like I am on 24/7. When he is a asleep in doing the usual bottles, dinner etc. I feel like I need more confidence to get myself and baby out of the house with everything in tow but I suppose walking through malls could help. Houston heat doesn't make it ideal to walk around outside during the day. I also do the night cycles solo so I'm pretty much too exhausted to do anything but want to get more scheduled about it so I can plan on an hour here and there when my husband gets home.

I am recently received an invite for a meeting with a partner and a HR person which means I am either going to be laidoff or put on a reduced schedule (60% time for 60% pay). I would rather being laidoff since I don’t want to still work 100% with 60% pay. How would I frame it if they put me on the reduced schedule? I don’t want to say “you have to fire me” since it might be counted as resignation and I won’t receive the severance package.

Since George Floyd's murder and the sudden Corporate America "wokeness," I (black guy) have been routinely contacted by unacquainted Partners who explicitly state something to the effect "Client X wants diversity, so we'd like you on this deal..." It really comes across as tone deaf and completely patronizing. I appreciate the efforts to diversity (albeit forced), but Partners really need to learn how to not be so supercilious in the approach. You don't have to overtly state that I'm the quota.
