I really want to reward the kids who are staying dedicated to their educations right now. What can I do for them?

I am planning on sending cards home at the end of the year praising their hard work and telling them That I proud of them. I also have two seniors on my caseload. I am sending them a card with a gift card. I have had them four years and both have done a fantastic job. Both have gone to a career center and gotten training and will he stepping into jobs right after graduation

I bought mine some little gifts. And plan on delivering those with little cards. One a week or so to one of the kids working hard and keeping up.

Well I have all girls, so some little snack foods, some nail polishes, face masks... stuff like that

At the end of every year I taught, I had a few kids, a dozen or so, who just stood out in the most positive way. I wrote them letters and had them mailed to their houses. The parents who received those letters were so grateful that I would take the time out to do something like that. I endorse everyone to do that.

Are you allowed to use Zoom? I have lunch with students on Monday over Zoom, for those who earned their enough points for the previous week. It is a big hit.

I think right now, the best thing you could do is to tell them on face chat how proud you are of them. Show them how much you believe in them. You will be surprised how much they light up.

Make a positive phone call or ask the administration to do it for you. Students and parents do appreciate that.

like

I send an email to them. They seem to appreciate it. My colleague came up with the idea to BCC their parents as well.

like

We maintain a Google Meet during normal class time if they check in to Google Meet they get 10 extra credit points. While they are there if they need help so much the better.

Personalized letter or card home!

My school is a small rural school. We don’t offer many in-house electives. What’s happening is students are having to take whatever is there to fill their schedules. If they aren’t interested in the class, then it becomes an opportunity for disruptions because they aren’t interested. What are some electives you have at your school that are new, innovative and interesting for todays high school students?
