Sitting in the hospital after some funky health stuff today (not covid, and seem to be getting the all clear and a new med). As an associate at a VC firm, if I meet with a startup and they go reach out to my director or my MD, I automatically decide we aren’t investing in them. My bosses trust my judgement and they won’t engage if I tell them not to. Startup did it today, and it didn’t matter that they had something interesting. Considering they didn’t give me the materials I asked for to review the deal, it felt disrespectful.
