How does one transition from big 4 to T2 (like Kearney, LEK, OW etc). I’ve been at EY for a few months now but my project has been nothing but staff aug and a vague technology transformation project for a bank. I was really interested in the strategy work in my undergrad and choose to go the consulting route instead of IB because I wanted to help clients make decisions and it seems like I can mainly get it at T2 firms. Would love some advice on how to get this transition started
New staff here. Senior just chucked a pencil against the wall at the client site today in rage, yelling "what the hell man!" because I forgot to follow up with the client about something.
Have a potential freelance to full time offer coming in that I’m excited about. Small company. The project manager emailed me asking my day rate and full time salary desires but...
A client has a very-difficult-to-pronounce name which is a tongue twister for me. Don’t intend to butcher the name, but just can’t say it right. Personally, if someone from another culture said my name a bit differently, I just wouldn’t mind. This client is touchy about it. How do you handle this?
Any Program/Project managers in Austin/Texas? Would love to find a job opportunity outside of consulting, I feel so drained in this industry. Currently a 2nd year in strategy & consulting. I have many certs displaying my knowledge in data & data analytics. Background is in engineering management.
Is it normal to have no idea when your roll off date is? Project keeps getting extended and my PM won’t tell me when I’m rolling off, but would like to start looking for other projects..
I’m being made to work about 50h of client work even while taking PTO once a week. PPMD just keeps putting me on additional small projects that require about 5-10h/week even though he knows I’m fully stretched between a full time and part time project taking 45h+ which is why I’m taking 1day/week off. I feel imma get burnt out soon and start looking elsewhere. Anybody going though this? ‘Tis the impact of high turnover & lack of understanding of boundaries + Team can’t find new candidates
That awkward moment when your client whips out an electronic cigarette and starts puffing away mid presentation.
Guys what teams/space should I target if I absolutely do not want to work on making presentation Ideal work would be something related to programming and very little client presentation/requirement gathering
When the client tries to convince you that their current strategy is not just copying their biggest competitor
Project is ending and I think i am going to miss my manager. Good managers really do make a difference. 😊
Lost a client to UBS today. Sold her out of a 6 year annuity after only 3 years. She needs the guaranteed income! No other savings, age 60, no job with solid income, no husband. Who allows this?
I have a love/hate relationship with my job. I've been in the same project for 3 years. I started as an analyst at 57k. I'm a first year class consultant making 82k now. EY has offered me 103..cont
Anyone missing traveling M-Th, this was last night a little past midnight on delayed Amtrak from PHL -> NYC. Last minute client meeting in the evening pushed my return train from 6:30 to 11:30. I'm already over this.
Hi, Actively looking for opportunities in Project Manager/Lead role. Kindly comment if any leads in your scope. Thanks
I am 11 weeks pregnant with history of miscarriage and termination due to abnormal 12 week ultrasound, hence considered as a high risk pregnancy. I just received green light that I made to SM. My project is already crazy with long hours daily and now having made SM starting June, they expect me to take care of more that one project and RFPs to build business. Any advice on how to handle this situation considering I want to communicate my pregnancy post 20 weeks?
How do you approach wanting to roll off a long term project? Manager / PL are very pleased with my work and would like to keep me but w/l is very problematic and i feel like i am starting to stagnate
Do any of y’all end up spending more time as a counsellor/life coach to your client rather than a lawyer?
This holiday break has made me seriously consider leaving the Big 4 and going to industry. Anyone left Big 4 cyber for industry recently? Any regrets or things you miss? Is the pay better?
Freelancers -- what health insurance do you guys use? I really need to leave my current place but it's hard to find another gig that isn't freelance to full time. But I also need health insurance.
Anyone successfully book multiple rooms with points? Perhaps even at a discounted point rate? (I.e thing booking rooms over a weekend for wedding guests) Random thought.
I haven't taken a single vacation or sick day in over a year. I'll lateraling to another firm next month (pending conflicts). Would it be in poor taste schedule a vacation prior to giving my two weeks notice? I love my group and I don't want to burn bridges.
What is the Sr Consultant compensation band in Deloitte consulting (Analytics & Strategy) ? Thanks in advance!!
started a new role and the pay is great but the culture is very intense and mentally not sure how long I’ll last / how happy I would be. What would you do?
Am interviewing for a director, product role at a SaaS unicorn fintech. Currently a principal/associate partner in a boutique strategy firm, have 16 years of total work experience. Would you know if I am interviewing at the right level? (Still learning how the levels in a product organization match against consulting levels). Any pointers?
Getting cold feet about turning in my notice. Recently got an offer from a company for a role I’ve been super curious about. My current role is good - pay-wise, manager & team-wise, etc - but I’m really tired of the daily grind of my current job function. I’ve been here for only 4 months so I’m afraid I’m making a mistake leaving a good opportunity for something so unknown and career pivot and sooo new to me (plus it’s a startup, so less stable than current job). What should I do?
Please help me decide: Option 1 - stay at current big 4, get promoted this year, current comp $91k. ( project 20% increase with promotion would be like $110k) Option 2 - jump to a fairly large credit union now, lateral move no title bump, comp becomes $110k
Any recommendations for mentoring opportunities? Bonus points if it specifically serves female and diverse students or upcoming talent.
How do you do vacation if you’re on a longer, open ended freelance gig? If I’m gonna be there for 4-5 more months, I don’t wanna miss all opportunities for summer trips. Can I take 2-3 days off ever?
Thoughts on Riveron? My SO is interviewing there but heard they did a substantial furlough/layoff earlier this year. Seems like things might be better since they just announced a new acquisition in the past week?
Here’s what agencies need to do: only hire serious talent, not put 15 teams on each project, let the 1-2 teams who works on it see it through and have responsibility for making it happen...
I’m about to be staffed on a 3 month project and I will be having surgery on the 5th week of the project. How should I let my manager know? Would this be grounds to not staff me? The surgery is important and the recovery shouldn’t be too bad (1-2 weeks). I plan on taking a week off but letting the team know that I can come online to work but not the full day
I’m interested in Anomaly, can anyone give me some things to know about them? Or if I’m in the right direction? Average AE salary?
Anyone had experience with EY experienced hire? I got invited to this Spotlight on Diversity networking event as part of their recruiting process. Just wondering what to expect. Thanks!
