I was a top-performing sales rep in pharma and tech for 5 years, tech recruiting for 3.5 years, and recently transitioned to HRBP at a tech professional services company in NYC. I'm paid $119k. When I asked for a raise I was told I am already overpaid for HRBP. Is this true? What sources can I leverage for accurate pay in tech and HR? Payscale, Glassdoor, etc. all seem really low w/ the markets focus on hiring/retention. My focus is employee engagement and retention of mostly engineering teams.
How did you guys know you wanted to stay in HR?
I don't understand how Amazon being the brand it is lags behind so many companies is providing competitive compensation. Its borderline exploitation in the name of frugality for most roles apart from SDE. WLB is hell bad.
If the compensation is good and role is good, I think you should move.
It’s about time ! Goodbye bezos hello Andy
Pay…career progression…current happiness
Deloitte > Amazon. Unless you're super happy where you are and/or the offer from Deloitte was low, I'd definitely consider making the move.
Deloitte is significantly more in base (67%) increase, no stocks. Though stocks at Amazon I consider a bonus after paying taxes on them and losing half of them.
Do you like being at Amazon? Or is there something you look forward to in Deloitte?
Amazon is nice because everyone knows it and I have freedom with my time. Deloitte is good bc they offer a ton of time off, better pay, and a pension.
Whats the difference of comps and which is more?
Thats true. I wonder how most companies manage to pay alot more than Amazon.
With the changes to comp recently announced why not use the offer as leverage for a better comp package?
Totally agree! Luckily I will not be on the consulting side. It’s an internal role with the auditing team doing learning & development. Hopefully that means there’s good WLB. Here’s to hoping anyway!
I’ve been at Deloitte, depends on where you go you’ll either be miserable or you’ll drink they’re bullshit and then be miserable after it wears off.
That said, for 67% more in total comp I would go for a year and the. Go somewhere else.
Career progression will be better at Amazon, as will career mobility if you want to get into a new role. If you’re internal facing at Deloitte, career progress is slow and so is mobility.
Benefits, non ministry are better at Deloitte (eg the perks v Amazons “frugality). Standard benefits like health, etc are equal and less expensive per month at Amazon.
I’m sorry to hear that. It sounds like a nightmare. That sounds like the complete opposite of my experience or that of the other teams within our businesss
Trust yourself also in your decision to search outside Amazon. There are reasons why and maybe it’s time for change.
