I received an offer from TikTok (Dublin) and I am considering leaving Google for them. Did anyone made this transition and what's your experience? Also any other insides why you would recommend to leave/stay? Role is from Google biz to TPM at Tiktok.

I know of 2 googlers who joined tiktok last year, one in Austin and the other in Singapore. Both left the company 6-8months in due to culture issues. I also know of a few Googlers who rejected offers from tiktok because it was so difficult to just have a simple email conversation during the hiring process, that they felt it would be quite difficult if that would happen as part of everyday work.

Typical experience with TikTok recruitment (non-existent) and it’s even worse when you’re the hiring manger.

I just turned down an offer from TikTok due to the caliber of talent I encountered throughout my interviews. Very apparent that they weren’t able to build the best team, I’m afraid.

A colleague just boomeranged from TikTok in SF. Don’t join unless you speak mandarin and subscribe to a 996 type culture.

I’m Chinese and the tech work culture in China seems absolutely horrid and exploitative. Unsure if TikTok would be any better. Have a friend that quit after 2 weeks.

I used to work at Triller and I would avoid that industry like the plague. I knew former TikTok employees and they had nothing positive to say.

Both Triller and TikTok are competitors and exist in the short form music video segment. Triller was horrendous to work at, and we had folks from TikTok saying it was worse.

What was the offer and your YoE? Did you take the offer? Expecting an offer soon

I am the OP of the post and just wanted to let you know I did not take the offer, can dig it up, but there were better alternatives in terms of both wlb and comp. Which you can see.

I think one of the underrated reasons the market is trading is algorithms and sentiment analysis. People say they’ve never seen a market like this which is true but tech plays a bigger role than we expect. Many firms literally pick up Bloomberg terminal headlines and electronically buy or sell as a result. This creates higher volume in the market and leads to higher equity prices

Have offers from Firm A (5k employees 1B revenue) & Firm B (2k employees 200M revenue) to come in as a senior manager and create/build a new, niche tax practice similar to what I played a pivotal role in building at a B4. My biggest issue at B4 has been the big firm BS (hard to get things approved, slow moving, high performers not rewarded appropriately). What’s the right balance between the resources/client base of a larger firm and the autonomy/pay of a smaller firm? How small is too small?

Serious question. What makes a good copywriter? What skills would you expect? Aside from a command of language. I’m trying to understand if my expectations in hiring for my team are unrealistic.

Feeling stuck in my role, but unsure of my next move. Move agencies? Stick to social/PR? Acct mgmt? Get an MBA to become an eventual brand mgr? I’m so overwhelmed and feel like I have to specialize.

2nd year associate here. Has anyone made a jump from a boutique firm to big law? I found out that I’m a front runner for a gig with an Amlaw 100. I never thought I’d have this chance having graduated from an unranked law school and still being so junior. Even though the firm asked if I’d be willing to start as a 1st year given my lack of litigation experience, it’s still a monumental upgrade/ jump. I’m nervous about the culture shock and whether I’ll cut it. Could really use some advice!

Say you work at Accenture and are doing OK (haven't been laid off yet and have projects lined up). Also let's say that you have good skills in cloud infrastructure, which is plenty busy right now. What would motivate you to accept a job offer at a tiny consulting firm (less than 300 people)? Would a good raise and a promotion to Senior Manager be enough? There are many risks involved with going to a tiny firm. What would it take for you make the jump and overcome concerns?
