Your offer letter for a start up should generally state whether or not you are exempt, position, location of work and salary/hourly rate. Best practice to list manager.
I'd ask about equity (they should give equity if a startup).
Benefits are not usually listed in detail but there should be a sentence such as "you are eligible for benefits provided to all FT employees."
If this isn't included, I'd mark up the letter snd state you wanted these things in writing.
Do they not have HR or a lawyer or outside counsel? Remember, as a paralegal, you must be supervised by a lawyer to avoid unauthorized practice of law.
Also, ask for the title Law Clerk. It's better than paralegal.
Not sure what state you’re in but last I checked in CA paralegals are non-exempt employees and law clerks are exempt employees so you may or may not qualify for OT (overtime) depending on what your title is so that’s something to consider how many hours will you be working etc
CA paralegals also have to meet certain reqmts--look up AB 6450 and paralegals.
I would always ask for clarification if I was uneasy or unsure about something. Ask for a call to discuss the offer and walk though the questions you have.
