Moral of the story here- trust your gut! Thanks for posting this.

Every single real recruiter working on a “stealth” search will tell you the company’s name once you get them on the phone. Your resume in a non-ATS format is enough for them to reveal the name.

like

You should always know where your resume is going. Also, most ATS' can handle PDFs and Word resumes. Seems a little fishy. I've been recruiting for 20 years and have never had this scenario.

like

However, if you signed an NDA it should mention the company name. Also, I’ve sent NDAs before too, on behalf of clients, but I’m a retained search recruiter. This means I never have the experience of “submitting” a resume to a “system”. I email every resume directly to the hiring manager. With encryption... just sharing my process. Doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the only legit one but sharing mine nonetheless. I really detest shady recruiters.

like

its prolly legit, they just have poor systems in place. i always like to ask who their client is kindly and theyll just tell u

in my experience, prolly a company that nobody cares about if they are not telling you

like

Have you spoken to the recruiter yet? If not, I would speak with them first to make sure they are legit before resubmitting your resume.

Agree with ☝️. That is BS. If you’re a great candidate no one cares if your resume is ATS compatible.

Trust your gut. Always.

You know what sucks about this, there are plenty of honest developers who have designed programs specifically to test your resume “pass-ability” specifically for this purpose. It’s a for a small fee but not a scam. People like this screw it up for the hard working Johns and Janes in the world.

Yes this is very true ans equally sad.
