Not really needing a referral, but last Thursday I got a call from BlackRock More like I missed a called. It was around 5:30 on Thursday and I was just away from my phone. No voicemail. Number came from their main office at the NY HQ. Someone can just look up the number on their website. I’m convinced it’s a recruiter for a position I applied to (one of several) but without the voicemail and no answer when I called the number back I’m not sure what to do. Any advice? Any blackrock HR out here?

Hi. I am currently on bench with 1 year experience (band 6A). Kind of stressed out now since I am not getting any interview calls. I have also used GOM to apply for roles. I was mostly doing support work in my previous role. What can I do to get into a project other than contacting pem and rsa regularly and doing certifications?? IBM

Job-Hunting reach-out to VC from previous fundraising effort for own startup
I have e-mail archive from 1y ago of my reach-out to 65 VCs in London: we had video calls, they might remember me still, who knows.
I want to send a reply/forward message to the same e-mail thread from abc@gmail.com, saying that I am looking for roles within their VC firm. Is that a good idea?
Or shall I just start new email thread and mention how I know them?

You should let your recruiter know that you had trouble understanding the questions, especially if you believe you did poorly. See if they can grant you another interview. Be nice and approach this as you are at fault for not properly understanding the questions. Just be prepared that this might reflect poorly on you. People with accents are very common in large international companies. There are brilliant people with accents. If your interviewer is highly respected in the company, it will look really bad blaming his accents for your poor performance. Learning is how you handle the situation in the future. You could have simply repeat the questions back to confirm your understanding, request the interviewer to speak slower, ask clarification questions and ask if you answered the interview's questions. Your failure to manage the interview will unfortunately hurt your chance of getting an offer. This situation could happen in an important leadership meeting, project meet or important client calls. What are you going to do? Tell them to send you an native English speaker.
I completely agree to you point of view.
Its been three years for me in working with high diversity organizations but i never faced such scenario.
I did ask for clarifications unfortunately, it did not work.
Anyways thanks for your message. I must learn the technique for managing interviews in such cases

I would notify before. If it really was a case of a bad accent that really impacted my ability to perform. If it's a small accent then you need to check yourself.
