I recently asked my boss for a raise after discussing a yearly review with them. I was told because there was a company wide raise back in December, that would technically be my raise, which was $0.45/hr. I’ve stepped in to a number of roles here and feel I am not being paid adequately after taking on the extra work. I’m wondering how to go about asking for a raise of $2/hr after all this.

Be honest with them and set up a meeting to discuss it once you feel ready. Explain how you've stepped into new positions/roles that are outside of your responsibilities, and how you think your value has increased. You could shoot for $4 at the beginning and try and negotiate down to $2 final when they counter.

If you can, write up as much as you can about value you have brought to your company and how you have helped them 1) run more efficiently 2) reduce costs or 3) increase profits. Get to know what similar roles are paying elsewhere and make sure you frame it not just as "how much I'm worth" but also "this is what is fair by industry standards."

It has really disheartened me and I feel I should be earning more money
