For one of our older cats we gave her glucosamine (or maybe cosequin?, it’s been a while). Can’t really say if it helped but the vet recommended it and I doubt it hurt. We also got little cat stairs for her to use to get up and down from the bed because jumping was really hard for her. That was the best thing we did.
Also, if you have a multi level house, anything you can do to eliminate unnecessary trips up and down would also help. Eg having food and litter boxes on both levels if you don’t already.
Cosequin
Thanks! Do you recall how long it takes before you started to see it take effect in your kitties, D1 and E1?
I've been giving my kitty with arthritis CBD oil and he's much more energetic, which makes me think he's in less pain. He is not on other meds besides cosequin though, so I'm not sure if there are concerns about interactions.
They are drops, and I get them from CBD MD. They have formulas specifically for cats, including one that's catnip flavored. I chose this company based on the recommendation of a biologist who uses it for their cats.
Also, I put on wet food. I've read in a couple places that mixing it with food makes it less potent, but I know they won't just take it, and I don't want it to be stressful. Plus, the data on that seems mixed and I've definitely still seen a difference.

Multiple litter boxes (low to the ground), lots of water available and stairs to my bed. I also carry her up and down the stairs each morning / night
Thanks KPMG fam! Could you send me a link to the litter boxes you’re using?
I used CBD oil for my old man's arthritis and it seemed to have worked. It also helped his "kitty dementia". His last year on this earth with me, he would wander around the house in the evenings yowling and appearing to be confused. I was giving him the calming chews from PetSmart and those worked for a while, but he seemed to have developed a tolerance for them and they became ineffective. Also, wrt getting around, to make his life easier, I put down puppy pee pee pads which he was very good about using - no accidents. Also, the pee pee pads helped me identify a UTI because I was able to see that his urine was tinged pink. I added organic apple cider vinegar to his drinking water and it cleared right up.
Thanks! What CBD brand are you using?
I’ve had the joy of working for cats all my life - Best low profile kitty litter pan option for aging or sick kitties is hands down a regular old rimmed baking sheet set on a big towel. They don’t have to step up and over, the rim prevents liquid spillover, and the towel catches kicked litter. Added benefits for us hoomans: it’s easier to keep tabs on any changes to bathroom output and the metal is also easier to keep clean.
Huge thanks for all the responses and to the bowl leader for pinning this! Has a weight loss journey been part of y’all’s experience too? Any pro tips for that? I’m thinking about ordering a harness to take her on walks in the yard. Given her pain and minimized mobility, I’m concerned that she won’t be choosing to walk around the house as much anymore.

Our older guy has hip displasia and our vet prescribed dasuquin. Sounds extremely similar to cosequin but with another additive.
Supposed to act as a kind of joint lubricant and imagine they would take a similar tact for your cat. Hope he's doing ok!
I got my dog a series of laser treatments for his terribly arthritic hips -- that and gabapentin kept him pretty comfortable
