I got a verbal offer from ACN two weeks ago, and the recruiter told me I could expect a written offer in a few days. I haven’t receive it by now…followed up with the recruiter today, and she told me hopefully I will get it over the weekend or by Monday. Is this normal? Should I be worried? The recruiter told me they really wanted me and the team has a lot of projects lining up and I really like the team..Accenture

Does anyone at Rutgers know where I can find a flexible part-time job for students on campus? I only found two campus positions on handshake and haven’t heard back from either yet. I feel like there has to be a lot more out there than what I’ve seen on handshake

I worked at lockheed for two years. Pay will be subpar to any other industry unless you are an aerospace engineer. Every other function is a second class citizen in terms of pay. WLB is great though, they are on a 4-10 schedule so every friday off.
When I left, my senior manager in the finance org (55+ y/o) tried to flash their salary to me to show me that they make a lot of money at the higher ranks, whispered they make $180k… I left and now make 200k at 30.
They tout their rotational program but honestly career growth in defense industry is some of the slowest of any industry. People tend to stick around for a long, long time because the WLB is so good so people don’t leave often. This means a lot of the time you only get promoted when someone leaves, retires, or dies.
The worst part for me was the overly conservative, religious vibe of the employees. Everyone was an old white conservative, very little diversity.
If you are looking for a breadth of experience in a short amount of time, look into consulting. It is career rocket fuel and has a faster than average promotion cycles.
The reason I emphasized Raytheon and Lockheed Martin is because they have rotational programs and I feel that they would be useful in gaining a larger variety of experiences in a shorter amount of time.
Thank you for your extensive reply Deloitte 1. Would you be willing to talk a little more on your experience with consulting, both the pros and the cons? (i.e WLB, Typical Duties, Level of Mobility, Compensation/Benefits, etc). I enjoy learning about different industries and career paths and I think it would be helpful to get some more perspective.
Go into consulting and join the defence practices. I work in A&D and have worked for some of the companies you mention, as well as their main customers.
I don’t design weapons for them but I help them make them more efficiently and to not run out of parts to run them
Thank you for your input, Senior Manager 1. Is there a particular reason why you personally recommend going into consulting? Also, is there a specific consulting firm that you work for or recommand for early career?
