I recently got a job offer from a very big hospital in NYC. They said the offer is conditional on the “rest” of my background check. I’m not sure what that means, they spoke to all of my references already, and said they spoke to HR at my last job. It’s been almost a week, should I reach out or just keep waiting?

When was the last time you spoke with HR? If a week ago, I think you can reach out to HR and ask what other information they're waiting for. Did you need to do a drug or urine test? Are they waiting for those results?

Usually a background check also includes your prior employment before your previous role. Any and all that you've included in the application. Did they complete that or are they still waiting for people to confirm your employment history?

Depending on the background check company they're using, it may take a bit to give an update too even if they're seemingly "done". Usually 1 week would suffice tho. Or 7-10 business days.

If I were you, I'd ask the background check company if they're using a third party or speak with HR and ask for a status.

I spoke to HR, they said I need to reach out to whoever gave me the offer, I emailed her but haven’t gotten an answer back yet.

Looking for advice, strangers. Currently on a team that has grown exponentially over the last few months. However, I have felt stagnant in my role for a while, as leadership has changed many times, causing annual plans and budget requests to go ignored or unapproved. Few weeks ago I saw a new role, applied, and was offered the role. Around the same time, new leadership joined my team and offered to elevate and support my role. Do I stay or do I go?

New/pivoting into HR! 👋 Currently working as a TA Coord with a little entry level work in HR Ops prior to this. Is there a SHRM link, reliable test, or method of shadowing the various parts of HR that will provide a sample of the work, thinking, and day to day experience of each group? I didn’t go to school for HR and therefore haven’t had the opportunity to sample HR Ops. vs. TA vs. Comp vs. Benefits vs. Payroll, etc. I know work experience is the best barometer, but what can supplement this?

I’m in a rather peculiar situation. I have been in the HR field going on 4 years, I have over 11 years of management experience, I got my PHR last year and I recently graduated with my MBA with a concentration in HR this month. I am ready for a more challenging role. However, there doesn’t seem to be much available at my current company. However, I am going on 5 months pregnant with the expectation of being out in October. I feel like once I mentioned my pregnancy I was in a holding pattern.

They said they wanted to hire soon. I made it to the third round of interviews and even wrote a sample project. And now two weeks later and I haven’t heard a peep. I want to check in to see if they made a decision but at this point have I blown it for waiting too long? I kept thinking surely I’d hear from them any day now. Hi guys! I had an interview last Saturday with the CEO for an EA role (that was the 3rd interview). The company rushed the process for me because they knew I had another offer. The first 2 interviews went extremely well that’s why they rushed & asked the ceo to interview me on a Sat. morning. Huge common point: The CEO and I are both French. The interview went kinda weird… it was less than 15min. Looked distracted/ not prepared. When I asked him questions he barely elaborated. Comments⬇️
