I recently got a role as an internal strategy consultant in a company. Ultimately I would love to get a role in either big 4 or boutique firms in the future. How should I set myself up to do that while in this role

You’ve already started down the path. We care about credentials

Honestly, you would probably be able to make the jump now if you wanted to. B4 may try to lowball your experience since it’s internal work

I have severe (diagnosed) social anxiety. The pandemic has certainly not helped it. I’ve been casually looking for a new role but I always stop myself because the idea of interviewing is terrifying. I passed the HR screening for a position I’m very interested in, but the company is notorious for difficult interviews. I feel sick about it. I try to prepare and completely blank. I feel like I can’t even articulate what I do right now. How the hell do I get around this?

How long in a new company (who is open to this type of thing) do you express your interest in a lateral move to a different role/dept?

Background: I work in marketing but ultimately want to move into a Scrum Master type role (recently got my PSM-I). I’m starting at a new company next week that’s open to people moving internally to where they want to be, but obviously don’t want to be flakey to what they hired me for. I was thinking putting in a year before expressing interest. Thoughts?

Starting a new role soon. HR Director in Philadelphia Suburb. 100-120 EEs in manufacturing. I have 22 years of experience, 13 as HRM. New salary is 105k going to 113k after 180 days. I have an Associates degree and PHR certification. Considering the lack of degrees I feel the salary is really good and I’ll keep learning, hustling, and hopefully advancing higher. Let me know your thoughts.

How important is it to nab referrals to jobs that you are applying to? I know some people in tech that say it’s really important to land the first round, but is it the same in business? Also re: recruiter DMs/emails, do you have an advantage in the interview process if you are reached out to, or is it just something they do on a mass scale during hiring frenzies?

Currently thinking about exit opportunities, 1.5 YOE

Interviewing for Google Technical Solutions Manager role within Ads (for SMBs). Any advice? Interview is with hiring manager, questions will be around system design, SQL/databases, product management, stakeholders/leadership.

I honestly think I’m a little under qualified for this role but that’s also what excites me about it, to learn and grow within it. Just want to put my best foot forward.

Any idea what are need-to-knows on the above topics? Salary range? Thanks 🙏🏽

I quit my previous job approximately 5-6 months ago due to toxic culture and being pressured to commit fraud… I fear hiring managers see that I’ve been out of work for this time and may assume I was fired or laid off. Additionally I’ve had a couple interviews where company “X” interviewers have commented on this and in an effort to not bad mouth my previous employer I’m stuck with a generic answer like I want to take my career to the next level with Company “X.” Any thoughts/advice?

He said that most young guys who are now Senior Managers and Directors have No Clue what is going to happen if we go to another recession, he doubts they even have been through one.
