Advice on the application process is great, and I’m also interested in hearing about your goals and experience now that you’ve joined. Just looking for an honest conversation! They won’t hire you with a felony conviction. You can’t get a CPA license or a JD with a felony in most states

EY2, that sounds more like a PB&J or some alternative deal where they agree you can file for expungement after a certain amount of time as part of you pleading "guilty". Most convictions don't come with essentially a guaranteed expungment, especially felonies.
I would disclose. EY will complete the background check and find out anyways. You need to make sure there are no issues prior to you starting. Otherwise, you start date may be delayed if the background check is done right before your start date.

I didn't have felonies but did have very serious misdemeanors and my background check also showed I was sentenced to prison for 1.5 years for it all. I didn't mention anything...EY will bring it up to you if they need you to explain it, I wouldn't bring it up until they do. Make sure to put together a very nice looking/official letter explaining the situation and that you understand the severity, regret it, etc. Blame it on the fact you were in college and it's a different chapter of your life (unless you're still in college that is.) If you have other people you can get references from (preferably more senior people in their careers), detail that in the letter as well. If you have your CPA that'll help a ton, but guess you don't yet if this is an internship.
I was at BDO before I joined EY. Funny enough, BDO never asked me about my background check...shocked me, because it's really bad and EY gave me a hard time (delayed my start date while they considered my letter, etc). As an intern, I'm not sure if they'd be more lenient with you or not
That might cause a problem. Did you disclose it on your application?
If you’re in a state that has decriminalized it you should consider seeking to have it expunged.

Wow... definitely never mention this on an application. Only get into this after you have the offer...pretty sure it's illegal to ask this on an application in most states anyways. If he has a felony I doubt it's a simple possession and decriminalization likely has no impact. In states like mine, felonies can never be expunged

How do you get a felony for that ?
Enough that looks like intent to distribute even if you weren’t going to distribute. Typically like 8 ounces are more. Depends on the state however.
