I recently left consulting to work at a FinTech startup here in Chicago. We’re filling out our Business Analysis team (going from 3 to 6) and I’m looking for Directors and Managers. Required skills include SQL (can use joins, case-when, etc. - not a data warehousing role) & Excel (pivots and index-match), and a nice to have would be an understanding of lending/credit programs and exec presentation skills. https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/view/1989629988 DM me if interested! FYI - we’re remote currently. Also, sorry but we do not sponsor.
Any scientists/engineers here? (Chemistry BSc/Chem Eng Masters personally) how did you cope with the business/finance lingo at first and dealing with feeling like a bit of an idiot for a while till it starts clicking I’m in this period at the moment... also for hiring would you possibly get looked over initially/are business/finance/econ grads preferred?
Ah, the coveted Verbal Designer role. Not sure what that means, but hey, thought somebody might find it useful.
Anyone in LA (or remote) hiring for senior teams? ...advice welcome for where to even begin with this process
Does anyone know what PwC's health benefits are like? I am onboarding and the packet just says it covers up to 75% of a gym membership or something like that. I'll be in the NYC office too if that affects anything
Got a referral to MBB a few weeks ago, but still haven’t heard anything- wanted to know if this was normal?
New media supervisor position opened up at Borders Perrin Norrander in PDX. Posting here in case anyone is interested! Can find the post on LinkedIn.
Currently in the US but interviewing for a UK-based firm and role. The comp level they are throwing around is £250k TC. Is this reasonable for a Director-level role with 12 YOE? My comparator would be wait 18-24mo to become a consulting partner - in the US that starts at $450k/£325k. For the purposes of this question, assume I’m optimizing for initial comp, not long term potential, and not livability, Intl experience, WLB, CoL etc. Thanks!
Thoughts on Indexed Universal Life Insurance as an investment vehicle? I hear the pros and cons from the sellers of this, whom I understand gain heavy commissions. But wanted to get thoughts from investors and if this isn't a good vehicle, what alternative investment vehicles do you suggest (outside of stocks, Roth, 401k, and real estate)? Looking to diversify my portfolio. I'm 43, married, income 600k combined, and we have 2 properties worth 3m and investment accounts worth ~2-3m. Thanks!
Im 23 and just graduated. I work in Industry in a LCOL and my TC is 83K. Do you have recommendations for building wealth? I have 0 student loans and 160k net worth Please help I’m worried about my financial health. TIA
Was told I’d only have one round (4 interviews), each split 50/50 on case/behavioral. This is for an Associate position and will be interviewing with AP/P/SP level. Is this typical? Since I see most people have multiple rounds.
I submitted an app 2 weeks ago, got a referral to McKinsey a week ago...do I still have a chance of being contacted?
I realized most of my anxiety or depression stems from a lack of career fulfillment. I recently started a new position and things were going great till they restructured my group and laid off a few on my team. Now I'm always looking over my shoulder and too concerned about screwing up. In the past, I have been laid off & I can't help reading too much in to every single email. My therapist made me aware of this but I'm looking for coping tools that someone in my situation has found useful. HELP!
Thoughts on getting credit for success stemming from my work? Former peer, now boss in a new role, leans heavily on me for strategy, comms, planning & analysis - admits to me they can’t do what I do.
BCG fish, how is the healthcare team segmented? Based off of type of projects (strategy, implementation, clinical, M&A, etc) or is it based off of geography? Are projects sourced nationally or more regionally based on partner? How’s the Dallas office? Boston Consulting Group
my pup has a partial ACL tear, sadly we do not have insurance and have to pay $5k out of pocket, i have heard of the credit we can take out and pay within a 2 year period but was wondering if anyone knew of any way to cut the price down? or of any other non surgical routes and avoid surgery. (we have already waited a couple of months to see if it would heal and no luck, also have been giving her extra vitamins, no more outside play, etc)
Finally watched The Social Dilemma on Netflix. It didn’t say anything that we didn’t already know about social media and big tech, but it’s still alarming and worth the watch. The biggest question I have after watching is why do people still romanticize FAANG? Is just purely the money and prestige? Are we selling our soul for a highly regarded exit opportunity? Just curious.
I can see so many ex MBB consultants in Meesho currently. Any idea why this is and if Meesho is a good exit from consulting? I have an interview scheduled but not really sure if I should go for it or not.
Wrapped up an internship a few weeks ago and looking for a Jr AD position or another internship in NYC. Haven’t seen many positions posted and I’ve reached out to recruiters with no luck. Any advice?
Hoping to seek everyone’s advice here! I recently moved in-house and have more free time to invest in myself. Which direction would you suggest that I look to for growth? - UX/UI - Coding - Data Analytics - SHRM - PMP - Others?
Norwegian living in Norway with my Canadian GF. Planning to move to Canada due to her visa running out. SC at Deloitte working mainly as a Solution Architect + DevOps Engineer, but also experience with Cloud Strategy and IT DD's. Should I be able to find a company to sponsor my visa, or is my best bet an internal transfer? Any other tips? Thank you in advance!
Can anyone tell me about Deloitte’s DCE departmental culture? I am interviewing with them so any insight is appreciate...
People on here are talking about billable hours and utilization... are those things that are tracked on an individual basis? We do it as a firm aggregate and thought that was the norm, but seems to be that it might be tied to specific people at other firms?
First day back on the job after paternity leave. Never had a harder time leaving the house than this morning...
How do you define work-life balance? And how much of that balance is reasonable to expect for someone with ~2 YOE, be that in the Big 4 or in smaller niche/boutique firms?
How much house can I afford? Single, I make 136, putting 19.5 into 401k, 6 into Roth, another 10 into stocks, and 2 into crypto/ year. Have savings of 35k and will use my bonus of 20k as well for down payment. decent properties in areas I would consider living start north of 325k. Am I better off waiting and saving more for a bigger down payment, just going for it, or lowering my expectations?
Thoughts on how much in surcharges before an award is no longer worth it? Eying an AirFrance nonstop (CDG IAD) in biz that’s 55K miles (from AmEx) but balking a bit at additional taxes/fees of $350
Any consultants move over to PE investment teams? How’d you learn the modeling and did head hunters give you a look compared to bankers? I have 4 yoe in consulting so is senior associate possible? I assume vp out of question
Ever hear of a temp-perm role in industry? The company tries you out for a few months before hiring you as an official employee. They won't pay benefits until I'm an official employee but in the(cont)
Are Expert salaries completely cohort based or is there is room for negotiation. The base salary recruiter quoted is almost same as what i am currently making.McKinsey & Company

Just got offered. Is Capgemini considering permanent work from home set-up for it’s employees? Maybe employees here are receiving emails about it, kindly share bit info :)
Is it just me, or is the big 4 sales culture low energy? I get the RFP process is painful, having done it in other industries myself, but the way I've seen most people sell in these firms seems mediocre for the amount of support that gets thrown at these opportunities. Maybe it's the ex-finance consultant in me, but the approaches I've seen in my 5 year tenure so far have me thinking this isn't catering to my strengths and won't be the best move to stick it out to SM/PPMD.
Interesting…while married he pursued women at his company in a “non predatory way” aka good old fashioned womanizer/cheater ways. What’s sad is while Melinda was focusing her efforts and 1 Billion $ to help women combat sexual harassment, bias and stereotypical representations that perpetuate harmful gender norms, her husband was the harasser.
Reposting - Deloitte 🐠 Is the 2 year sign-on bonus clause standard (need to pay back 100% if you leave before 1 year, 50% if you leave before 2 years)? Anyone successfully remove this or reduce to 1 year?
