Does anybody work in the Los Angeles International Tax Practice at EY? I was reached out by a recruiter that they will offer full specialized training before joining the team. Just want to make sure it’s safe to make the jump considering how the international tax practice at my firm is a mess due to resignations.EY
Something to brighten your day 🤗

Don’t. Just don’t. It will not help you or make you look better.

Boomers don’t believe in ADHD

Maybe just a quick chat acknowledging the situation and that you were dealing with a personal issue and noting that you’ve taken proactive steps to handle the personal issue. End by noting that you’re looking forward to getting back on track.
Hmmm… I wouldn’t necessarily bring this up. You have to look at it from their perspective. Are you trying to tell them this is why I was bad, and I will continue to be bad but be more understanding b/c I have a condition? I dont think telling them really benefits you here. If you are going to tell them anything, I think A1’s advice is a way to go. If not, just don’t say anything.

I suspected I had ADHD for a long time, but big law pushed me over the edge, and guess what? I was diagnosed with ADHD, and i'm currently on medication. I wish I had done this back in law school. It's a game changer!
But, don't mention it to your partners. Most are boomers and will judge you. That's the reason I never told my firm, even though I was struggling. I already have a lot of baggage (first gen, immigrant child, etc) I didn't need another "negative thing" to add to my list.
Also, post this here for better resources:
Agreed. Even as a GenX partner with ADHD, I’d probably feel like you were making excuses tbh. Just get you’re act together and impress them with your improvement.

I would not disclose a mental health issue but you could say you were dealing with a personal health matter that has been resolved and you look forward to being on your game going forward

Just say you had a personal issue going on and that has since resolved and you think moving forward you won’t be making those same mistakes (without blaming them all on the personal issue). Same as what someone noted above.
I wouldn’t unless someone specifically calls out your poor performance. You may be blowing it out of proportion and by raising it, you’re just drawing negative attention to yourself.
Bro. Leave it alone.
