I recently met someone in another country where I’m working remote. He asked me to be his girlfriend but I’m moving in about a month. I met someone just a couple of month before I was about to move to another country. She didn’t want to stay together because I would be spending who know how much time away and the future was uncertain and it seemed a lot for someone that she had just met. I insisted that we should keep together until we were sure it would no longer be viable. We stayed a few months apart and were able to get back together. This was 11 years ago. We got married 8 years ago and we have a 4yr old daughter.

I went from south america to europe to the US. US visas are obviously a pain in the ass to get for latinos. But there are solutions. If you wanna just dip your toes and plan for the future you can consult with an immigration lawyer to see what options you have.

Enjoy the next month and see how you feel at the end. Visas are never easy but another month will help you decide if it’s worth it? I wish I had lived in another country when I was younger. Do it while you can before life happens :)

This is an increasingly common problem. I say YES, try to keep being in the moment. Time and time again I see my clients get way ahead of themselves when they start dating someone. Essentially they don’t allow themselves to enjoy the excitement and novelty of the beginning because they’re so busy worrying about the future. There are many stories out there of people making distance work until they can be together, and with remote working these days it’s easier than ever. Have fun with this new flame!

Does your baby drink more milk when away from you? I am WFH and pumping and breastfeeding. Sometimes nanny gives baby the bottle and then baby wants / sees me and nurses after. I pump afterwards but only get like 1 oz (since she drank a full bottle). So basically, baby needed another 4 oz on top of breastfeeding. On the weekend baby drinks from me and doesn’t need more milk. Baby is 10 months. I have a freezer stash but don’t want to reduce supply too much.

Have a call tomorrow to discuss an offer for IP director of a series c startup. I was told early on by HR that the comp was 180 base + bonus and equity. Can anyone provide insight on what type of bonus and equity I should expect? I believe bonus should be provided as a target % of base, but I’m not well versed in equity. The company is a Bay Area ag tech company but my position is fully remote. I have 6.5 YOE (but 5 of those years were as a patent agent).

My professional life at the moment is far from ideal. I’ve been on quarantine (long story, but a good one) for the last seven years. Royalties from my books don’t pay the bills. My entrepreneurial pursuits remain hampered. For the interim, I’ve been looking for a remote opportunity where I can leverage my skills in marketing, sales, social media, and elsewhere for a decent sum. I have a social media presence which, in recent years, reached millions. There has to be something exciting I can do.

How to let a firm know comp expectations changed due to a raise at the current employer? Gave a firm a range and they offered me a base comp at the low end of my range. Not sure how I feel about this. Thoughts on this? Would expect them to meet me at least in the middle. Current comp is going to be very close to 90k at the end of the year. Initially gave a range of 95 - 110 (when my comp was still in the low 80s). They met me at 95. I have almost 2 YOE. Thanks!
