Yes, 100%, bring it up to your manager. Maybe you should have access, maybe you shouldn’t. Either way, you need their guidance.
Furthermore, to you point, perhaps others have similar access when the shouldn’t. It’s not that hard for HRIS teams to accidentally ‘flip a switch’ that throws off access levels.
You could turn this into a strategic win for your career development. When you approach your manager about your concerns, perhaps offer a solution such as an audit of the departments system(s) access levels; perhaps a sort of system access matrix should be developed and reviewed yearly; or whatever you think best. Taking a problem WITH a solution to your manager will set you apart and set you up for future opportunities.
Ask yourself why you feel this way. Knowledge is power and if the right groups of people see the data, they can do a much better job of ensuring there are less discrepancies. I feel like we in HR created this bubble and many don't trust us for what we don't share. When companies do share, their employees trust them more. Re: Salesforce, Starbucks etc
I have access to that kind of information as well because I do multiple things within our HRIS system such as position and compensation changes as well as performance management. Our HRIS grants different accesses for different things. Managers have their own access so that they can see their direct reports however they don’t have access to salary information. If you feel concerned, you should take it to your manager or whoever granted the access to being with to ensure your private information is not seen by others.
