ZS Associates Hello folks, I am a permanent employee of Persistent. I am deputed at the client side. My client is an ZS associate. Recently I have resigned from persistent. But ZS is very happy with my work. They don't want me to go. My ZS manager has asked the persis manager to retain me OR remove the cooling period clause, ZS is ready to hire me as a permanent employee. I will be very happy is ZS takes me as Permanent employee. But will persistent remove cooling period clause? Persistent Systems Limited ZS

Find yourself an index fund with a low expense ratio.
You need to decide which industries you want to invest in over the long term. I like tech, healthcare, consumer discretionary.
Tech funds - QQQ, XLK
Healthcare - XLV
Consumer discretionary - XLY
Overall market - VOO (vanguard) , IVV (fidelity)

I like IVV as a first fund, but I like ITOT slightly more for broader exposure to all sizes of companies. My healthcare choice is FHLC, but not sure how it differs from XLV suggested above. Right now consumer staples FSTA is a nice stable place to have some funds given the volatility. There’s no shortage of choices! Have fun researching and reading everything you can.
I did this yesterday, fully funded it for 2019, and bought VTI. I have TD Ameritrade.
Look up the fidelity equivalent to Vanguard's VTSAX or VTI. These are great for a buy and hold strategy and will serve you well with no active trading . Good luck!
You are def losing a bit on expense ratios with target date, but vanguard's are cheap enough to me to be worth the set and forget. 0.15 for my Roth IRA, lower for my Deloitte 401k plan
If you want to set and forget target date funds will diversify and rebalance for you.
