I recently picked this up while traveling. Has anyone tried it & how do you like it? It was a complete blind buy so curious to hear from folks who’ve tried it.

I have a bottle on my bar. It’s one of my go-to scotches when I’m in the mood for something peaty, along with Lagavulin & Laphroaig.

Is that the Octomore? I’ve tried it at the distillery but found it more gimmicky than anything.

No, Octomore is Octomore - entirely distinct from the Port Charlotte stuff. The Port Charlotte is closer in style to the core Bruichladdich and produced in significantly larger volumes with wider availability.

Octomore is meant to be experimental, so doesn’t have age statements, and varies significantly with each release. There’s also multiple variants each year.

Interviewing with 2 companies for creative positions and may be getting offers next week. Thankful for your insights as I weigh these options.

A: Hospital | $125k
Team is frighteningly lean. Totally swamped. Plans to scale up, but will it be enough?

B: SaaS Startup | $100k + $15k bonus. Equity with an IPO looming.
Team is much more robust. Lots of ex-agency folks.

What do you do when your partner says they're going to cover drafting/filing something and then they don't do it.....? I don't want to come off as rude in emailing my partner about it, but I simply do not have any time to take care of it and they said not to worry because they were going to do it.

Hey everyone! I'm going into the third week of my tax internship at KPMG. It's been great so far but I have this gnawing feeling that I'm not good enough. How should I manage this feeling? So far I've worked on two different client engagements doing workpaper roll forwards and clearing client review notes. I've learned a ton so far but I'm very much an anxious perfectionist and don't want to let my teams down.

I understand that the lagavulin 12 is rarer than the 16, but is that much better than the 16? My local binny's has the 12 (limited cask strength 2018) for $150, and the 16 for $89.99.

Day 2: "That Boutique-y Whisky Company Japanese Blended Whisky No. 1 - Batch 2 - 21 Year Old". So, I looked this up and this can go for $300+ a bottle. Dang!
Verdict: I smell floral. Very light body with a slight hint of syrup. Goes down sweet, but then ends with a very strong wood finish. Not bad, but I wish there was something stronger in the flavor to pick up on, like a spice.

Looking for suggestions.
I'm a scotch whisky drinker, pretty much exclusively, apart from a few select Irish bottles. Live in Ireland. So go tos would be Springbank, Kilkerran, Laphroaig, Caol Ila, Arran, Highland Park, Glengoyne...

On many visits to the US I've tried various Bourbons. Never very successful. Always seemed overly sweet and syrupy to my palette.

But I'm sure there are great choices out there.

What would you suggest as quality American whiskies for a scotch fanatic?
