I recently started investing so I’m still a novice. Have about $5K in my fidelity brokerage account and obviously going to make contributions every month. I’m invested pretty much entirely in funds (Large Cap, Blue Chip, VOO, SP 500, etc.) Trying to build wealth over the next 5-20 years (know it’s a long time frame). My question is does it really ever make sense for me to sell (unless when I need the money), even when the market crashes? Feel like it’s better to ride it out.

Time in the market > timing the market

Given your investing horizon, this is the answer. Just let that money grow, along with the gains

Never sell. When the market pulls back, corrects, goes into recession, crashes, etc it will be gut-wrenching, painful, all of that, and most people sell. They don’t have the iron will required to ride it out, and it’s totally, positively understandable. It’s scary watching money get reduced by 30-50%. But the market, over time, only goes up. When prices start dropping and the media is screaming sell sell sell, you need to continue investing and stay the course. That’s the only way you will build wealth. People who get out when it’s scary either never get back in due to trauma, or get back in once they’ve missed out on incalculable gains. Just stay put and keep putting money in as normal.

Depends if your good at avoiding crashes, then yes. When I mean crashes I mean bear markets.

Is it petty to ask for feedback after not making it past a phone interview?

Currently negotiating comp. Any typical/market salary for a senior counsel (8-10 YOE) role? Especially based comp? Major market, very late stage venture-backed startup. Any and all input deeply appreciated. Thanks!

Scenario: making $77k (example), ready to leave B4, found perfect job opportunity online. Salary range stated as 50k to 80k. I'm asked for my salary requirements on the application. (Cont)

NYC 🐠, I am planning a move to New York and am having trouble finding places I like/neighborhoods I should live in. My budget is $4k max and looking for a 2BD/2BR for my roommate and I. A little bit about me: I like going out, having fun, and am a 25 year old female. Open to downtown Manhattan and Brooklyn. What neighborhoods do you recommend and where can I find cute places? StreetEasy and Zillow has been pretty dry for me lately.

My doctor wants me to take a medical LOA. Thinks I’m too stressed at work/have so much anxiety about work that it’s having physical effects (heart palpitations/chest pains/panic disorder). I know I should take the time, but feel bad letting people down while my firm is so busy. What’s wrong with me?

I have a BCG IT case interview coming up. Is the Victor Change case prep material helpful? Any other material I could use?

Super unhappy with my current project/firm and looking to pivot quickly. Struck out at an MBB final round last week, had been prepping for a while. What’s the best course of action moving forward? Continue networking, applying, and trying to get referrals? Not sure how much longer I can take it doing current work. For context, went to an Ivy and have 2YOE. Any help’s appreciated.

What hotel branch should I become loyal to? New joiner to consulting and was going to commit to Marriott but heard it’s getting bad..

If anyone needs a referral to KPMG US, please DM me!

Hey hive mind! A headhunter reached to me about VP/SVP/Director opportunities at AlixPartners in EI or Cyber. A previous BAH executive referred him to me as a candidate. I’ve been in advisory and consulting for 10 yrs, am a Sr Mgr/Mgr type now, no MBA, have certs in cyber and management. AP seems great. I like cyber well enough but am not married to it. Two questions: 1) Thoughts on AP business and culture, and 2) Thoughts on which AP level I would be aligned to? Thank you!!

Do people still send a thank you email after an interview?

Any recommendations for desi therapists (or anyone who can understand the desi culture)? Going through a ‘very desi situation’, felt it would be better to talk it out with someone who can understand, if not relate

Is it a horrible look that I’m interviewing for full-time roles while in the middle of an internship? I’m not intentionally keeping it a secret or bringing it up right away, but I’m worried it will make me look sketchy.

Planing on moving to NYC in the next 3 years with my husband. Been looking at potential jobs that I may be interested in for when the time comes and a lot of the ones I’m interested in says “big four experience preferred.” I work for a regional PA firm and wanted to see what everyone’s thoughts are. If I stay at my current job, I’ll be manager by the time I leave for NYC or should I make the jump to B4 soon? Does “B4 preferred” outweigh my chances even if I’m a manager when comes down to it?

Ok it’s been a while. What’s the most embarrassing thing you’ve seen over zoom while WFH.

Hi Fishes, Deloitte USI, EY GDS or PWC SDC.. which one to join form work life balance and future growth perspective. Offer Amount: Does not matter Technology: Cyber
