For $200 I’d keep my doctors

If you have ongoing medical issues, and you can afford to keep doctors you trust, then do it. It will bring peace of mind. If you just go in for routine stuff, then save your money.

Do your doctors not accept the new insurance? What type of doctors are they? If it’s just general practitioner, their cost to you without insurance is probably pretty reasonable ($75-150) per visit. Do you need to see them often?

Good to know, thanks for educating me. It’s worth it to ask if they’ll let you pay without insurance, just in case. But otherwise if it’s an expense you’re comfortable with, go for it. I’d just double check the coverage if you have an emergency/accident to make sure you are comfortable with that coverage as well, especially if you were to be in an accident on vacation in another state, for example. I don’t know how big a network KP is, so it’s worth a double check.

I'm not a mom yet (don't kick me out of the group!) but have been going through fertility and IVF treatments for more than 6 months. I'm constantly having bloodwork, appointments and calls with the doc during working hours. Any advice on what I can and should tell my team about my health? They can tell I'm in and out of the doctor's office and I suspect they think I'm pregnant. Maybe it's being chock-full of hormone pills, but I'm sensitive about everyone thinking I'm pregnant when I'm not.

Question. I have an older friend who was newly contracted through an off brand firm who lost their contract for the NCS. They are offering him a transfer to the winner of the contract, but for a lesser salary (they said he's too expensive). They said he could also instead transfer to an independent contractor, for a 30-35% increase in salary, but no benefits or paid leave etc. Hourly salary, but much higher wage as a trade off. He's nearing retirement and doesn't care as much about benefits.

Can you provide advice to succeed/survive on the corporate client side? Moved away from agencies to corporate and it is SOUL SUCKING. Between the lack of flexibility (both personally and day to day), sterile environment, and millions of meetings a day I am going insane. The pay and benefits are dramatically better in this corporate role, but I won’t lie I am missing the freedom of agencies so much right now.

Where do you work, and what educational benefits does your employer provide? Currently working full time and taking some classes toward my master’s. I want to explore what other companies offer to make an educated decision as to whether I should go elsewhere. TIA!

Indexed Universal Life Insurance (IUL) - Anyone have one of these ? Never heard of this until the other day when a financial planner mentioned it. He said it’s a better vehicle than 401K. I took what he said with a grain of salt because he was trying to acquire customers, but I haven’t heard anyone talk about it here. At a quick glance it seems pretty solid. Anyone have experience ? Pros/Cons ? Something to add on including the standard 401K, Roth, HSA, etc ?

How important is being able to work remote (at a location of your choice, not at client /travelling) a few days a week to your job satisfaction?
