Hello, I have received an offer from Southwest Airlines as a Associate Technology Analyst with their direct college hire program. Will be graduating in May with a degree in MIS and also have internships experience as a Business Systems analyst intern. The salary compensation started off at 66,500 but was looking for the 75k range and they got back to me saying the best they can do is 68,500. They also have a 401k company match up to 9.3%. Do you think this is a solid offer for this job market?

On a mandated W2 I raise my rate about 10% to account for not having the benefits of my own business for that gig.
👆🏽 love this. thank you!
I was a freelance line producer for 20 years and everyone always told me to file as an S corp vs LLC.
It depends where you live. Super hard to be anything but W2 in California. Blame the AB5 law passed to protect gig workers like Uber drivers. It’s a mess
So true. CA is a mess now for production. Seems like they shouldn’t treat all gig workers the same. I donno. I live in Brooklyn. One night during the pandemic I watched a Door Dash delivery guy on a bike get run over by a truck. They were hauling him into the ambulance and I just thought, that dude’s seriously busted up, probably has no health insurance, the bill’s gonna be astronomical if he lives. And someone who probably had no idea about any of that probably wondered where their ramen was and complained.
Usually if you are C Corp or S Corp, you can ask them if they’ll pay your company as a loan out.
My accountant told me to do both. Somehow it was better to have some W-2 in the mix, I don’t know about these things.
I asked my accountant about this. He laughed and told me not to be a schmuck and just put the taxes away like a grownup
All very helpful. Thanks everyone!
