I realize it's frustrating, but the thing is, you really don't get the luxury of an expectation of privacy with work email. And if you are out on disability, I assume it's for an extended period of time. It would make sense to have your emails forwarded to a colleague. I do think your boss should have told you, though.
I care more about receiving my emails than privacy. There’s nothing really private in there. I just wanna make sure that those emails get to me that are regarding my appointment or my clients.
When you are out on disability, your access to email and any other company systems has to be turned off. You’re also not permitted to attend company events until you are cleared by a doctor to return to work. Pretty much anything work related is off limits.
This would be true in some companies. But based on my experience, they don't automatically disable my access. There might be some internal policy regarding this in your company, OP. If none, then you should talk to your boss.
