How is work life balance in UK compared to US?
I was laid off during Deloitte‘s mass layoff in July of last year. I have worked as an independent contractor since and projects haven’t been consistent at the client I’m working for. I’m looking to get back into a big firm and was seeing if anyone would be able to refer me or help get my foot in the door. I was a business analyst for 1.5 years at Deloitte and have several years of additional experience which I’d be more than happy to share.
I'm diamond and 10th on the upgrade list 🙄🙄

whatever you do, do not take the antidepressant
Lmao need some more context here
You had your teeth checked for grinding? I had awful headaches almost daily and went to a new dentist, and she mentioned that my teeth showed signs of grinding. I got a mouth guard that I sleep in now and I barely have headaches anymore. Huge quality of life improvement.
I found out I was grinding bc my jaw kept clicking, and I asked the dentist just bc I happened to be there - the mouth guard hasn't stopped the clicking but at least my teeth are protected lol
Had this issue too. Didn’t want to take a pill when the doctor prescribed it.
Went to a different doctor and he prescribed 4 things:
1) more consistent quality sleep
2) exercise
3) drink more water
4) better diet consisting of more fruits / veggies

Zoloft did nothing for my depression, but did ameliorate my anxiety. I wouldn’t get too hung up in the label. Tylenol/paracetamol is classified as a painkiller, but it’s also a fever reducer. Labels don’t change anything.
Interesting, I do notice more general anxiety for me than any sort of depression. Maybe it’s worth a try
I’d get a second opinion. And express your desire to not take an antidepressant. Don’t just take it because one doctor said you should. Good luck!
PS - I totally feel this. Getting off Adderall was the hardest year of my life after taking it for 10+.
Yeah that’s kinda how I feel. She didn’t really even consult much just like this pill will fix everything lol I know how much antidepressants can mess with brain chemistry
Listen to what makes sense to you; it’s your body and you have to advocate for it. Based on what you described, I’d get a second opinion.
I am on small dose of Zoloft for PMDD and it has been life changing. But I had never been on another SSRI or other antidepressant/anti-anxiety medication before, so I don’t know how it compares. But personally I’ve had a great experience - started at 25mg then increased to 50mg.
Is your doctor going to monitor your dosage and check-in with you? When I got on it, both my psychiatrist and general practitioner wanted semi-regular check-ins to ensure the medication and dose were right for me.
Thanks for this. Part of me is worried to try it and then stop it after a few weeks if I don’t like it but guess I won’t know until I try!
Do doctors still get kickbacks for antidepressants? Unfortunately, many doctors resort to this as a quick fix.
I’m with C1 - stress from work exacerbated my social anxiety and made it hard to manage people. Small dose of Zoloft made a difference and I was happier on it.
Stopped when I moved two-three years ago and just worked up the courage to ask my doc about going back on.
That said, echo others’ sentiments about being careful given past experience etc etc
Another option is cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Gives you the tools to manage anxiety, etc. I only went to three sessions, but it was very helpful if you find the right person.

A lot of doctors are real quick to prescribe antidepressants

They understand it. I don’t think they care and think they know better than us.
Have you tried taking CBD? I swear by it. I haven’t touched my Xanax in years.
THS content varies, may need to find optimal.
see pain management physiothetapist, mine was helpful. screen light, time, posture etc.. all contributed. i also lowered BP meds.
Low doses of Zoloft function well for anxiety. I’ve personally never been on it, but tried several others for help with anxiety, I don’t have depression. Lexipro worked wonders but was a little hard to get off of (I.e. felt light headed like a slightly tipsy feeling for about 3 weeks as I weaned from it). Viibryd is the new one on the scene and I loved it! Was on it for about 6 years. I only got off of it because I’m try to get pregnant. No trouble weaning off this one. Don’t knock it.. give it a try for a few months and see how you feel. If the results are minimal, stop using and try something holistic.
Per the comment above, I didn’t change my drinking, i did not have any sort of interaction.
Some context too, I took cymbalta when my mom passed like 10 years ago and it was the worst time of my life getting off of it 2 years later. Really don’t want to go thru something like that again
Did you share this with your doctor? Get a second opinion if you are concerned about the prescription.
